| Big thanks to YT! New member and our story. A big THANK YOU is in order to the creators of this forum and all the wonderful people who shared their stories and advice over the years. We wouldn't have done it without you in the past two months. My little furbaby arrived to our home between 3-4 weeks of his life and we became his everything and he became our everything. I was looking around for a yorkie puppy for about 6 months before. Was looking for an older pup, normal size, but ran into 2 troubles - breeders give puppies away at 8 weeks here (Turkey) and most of them are on the smaller side (1,5-2 kg when fully grown). Few months later boyfriend tells me that he paid for a puppy and will be bringing him home the next day. It was a big GOOD surprise for me and big step on BF's part since he didn't want to have a toy breed dog. So next day he brought our Mike home and our life has been changed forever. The "breeder" sold this puppy as a 7,5 weeks old, but we quickly realized it wasn't true. The little guy was still not 100% walking on his back legs. Also, he smelled so bad. He had strange bugs crawling out from his fur. His milk teeth were not out. He weighted only 360 grams (12-13oz). He cried for 30 minutes non stop and I lied down next to him of the floor crying like a wolf as well because I knew how risky it would be to keep him and take care of him, and my heart was breaking.. but I also knew I am not giving him away. For the next 5 weeks yorkietalk became my wikipedia, my morning and night reading, my main source of information. The first 10 days were the hardest, I was with him 24/7. Didn't even leave to the grocery shop, slept at night next to his bed with one eye open checking on him every hour. He slept on my chest during the day, we hand fed him around the clock. Boyfriend cleared his scheduled as much as possible too, to be available in case of any emergency. Oh those magical first weeks when he would climb down his bed, pee and lie down right in this puddle to sleep again while I would be away for 5 mins We switched Mike to a new food in the course of first 4-5 days because the kibble which came from the "breeder" seemed really bad and I knew my puppy needs the best nutrients and best care now. We threw away the passport "breeder" gave us, with fake birth date and fake vet info. Later I learned what a horrible place it is, giving puppies away too early, puppies infected with parvo and distemper, weak puppies. I literally cried my eyes out thinking my Mike could have gone to a different home, or could have stayed in that dumpster longer and got sick. We are connecting now to other people who got the dogs from this "breeder" to file an official complaint through government, but this "place" has been operating since 10-12 years and they have been getting away with it.. makes you think. BF felt guilty for not doing research but he did what a normal man would do - called friends for recommendation, called the "breeder", paid the money, went and got the puppy. Anyway, good that it turned out this way. So now let me share that our puppy is 12 weeks old TODAY well, at least according to the new birth date we chose with our vet. He got an immune system booster at 6 weeks (just in case), and his 2 puppy shots (one at 8 weeks and one at 11). He eats like a lion, runs around with a turbo speed, almost fully pad trained and knows few useful commands sleeps in his playpen (which is spacious and safe, and was hand made for him by BF). He goes bonkers for yogurt and pineapple (occasional poop eating thank you very much) I'm well aware of the health and behavioral risks connected with puppies separated too early from their mom, but he seems to be quick to understand and learn and in general such a smart and loving cookie. He is healthy according to the vet exams and grows at full speed. He should be around 3-3,5 kg (around 7 lb) as an adult and seeing him grow makes us so happy. All my life I wanted to have a dog, and now I'm almost 30 and my childhood dream came true. I am just so happy he came to our home I hope to share our journey with YT members and I want to thank each and everyone of you who have contributed to this forum and helped us!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Oh my gosh what a wonderful, caring person you are !!! Thank you for sharing your story. I'm so happy to hear that YT was helpful for you and your precious little one. His vulnerability and all the unknowns must've been so scary for you. It can be very tough trying to care for these tiny babies who are released way too early. He is lucky to be with you. Please do keep us posted on his progress and WELCOME to YorkieTalk!

| I am so happy to read that little Mike is doing so well. How lucky for him that your boyfriend chose to bring him to you! Your devotion to him, and the support of your BF truly kept him alive during that perilous early period, and he seems to be THRIVING under your loving care. May you share a long, happy and loving relationship with this special baby!!! Congratulations...

| Thank you so much. It's so amazing to see how our little guy instantly won BFs heart over and became his favorite dog in the world )) it's like - omg, he is SO smart, come here my furbaby, you're are so cute ugggrrr... it's a shock for someone who had no idea how smart yorkies are and how loving and funny and told me before that he will never REALLY enjoy having a tiny dog and spending time with him. And now he is all - please, puppy, lick my face, eat my new tshirt, scratch the car seats, I don't care )))) |
