| Annual Cost of Owning a Dog I thought it would be helpful for some to see the averages of how much it costs to own your pet. Things to include are insurance, grooming, veterinary costs, food, toys/entertainment, training. I will say that this can fluctuate from year to year depending on age of your pet. For me I'm hovering around $2200/year which includes insurance, grooming, veterinary costs, food, toys/entertainment/training/spoiling.

| The least expensive thing in owning a dog is the purchase price.

| It is kind of shocking when you look at your pet budget but I'm sure most of us wouldn't have it any other way.

| Just going to the emergencyone night because Paris was vomiting cost me 325 dollars. So worth it though, just the happiness my Paris gives me is priceless. I knew the responsibility it takes when I got her. Can’t imagine more than one pet how high are the costs. |

| People really don't get how expensive it is when you are a good pet owner and do what you are supposed to.

| @wyliesmom Great Article and share. Here are few lines I thought were extremely important * "The third important reason to understand what owning a dog costs is that when you realize what owning a dog costs, you will take the ownership and your responsibility much more seriously." *The money should not ever stop us from caring for or taking in a puppy that needs a home, but we have to be aware of the cost and our commitment to the animal. The animal's needs have to come first!

| For my two I am around 7K a year for all costs. Its damn expensive. I would love another I just cannot afford it at the moment. I go back and forth and say to myself all the things I could do if I didn't have dogs. But than I tell myself how lonely I would be. Its all worth it in the end to me.

| I make a lot of the things that I use for Bon Bon. He has one store bought leash and five hand made ones. No store bought beds, two home made coats, and three home made carriers for use when we go for a 'walk.' His monthly flea, tick, and worming is much more expensive than his food. One five pound bag goes a long way at 6 tablespoons a day. But he makes me laugh every single day. |
