All You East Coasters Looks like you're getting wholloped with crazy cold, wind, and snow. Be very, very careful if you must go out--you think you know how cold is cold, but ya don't! At least I didn't when back in WI I experienced my first sub-zero in many, many years...Cuddle up with your little ones and stay inside! I suggest watching an old Bette Davis movie (or some such), making popcorn and snuggling under a heavy, soft blanket! |
They are getting slammed. Hoping everyone in the path of this deadly cold weather stay warm. Prayers going up for the homeless who have no shelter - both human and animal. We are a few hundred miles west of the really bad weather, but it IS cold on the farm. |
Our roads are very very bad. You can't really tell how much snow we have because the wind is so bad. They try to clear the roads but it just blows back on it. Penny wants to go out and play in the snow and gets mad at me because I only let her do it for a few minutes. I'm hoping this wind doesn't make our power go out. Tonight our low is 7 degrees and if the wind is blowing it will be even colder. I feel so bad for the dogs that still stay chained up outside in this. |
Getting pounded with snow and high winds that I can't even see the end of my driveway with swirling winds here on the mountain. Last night on the weather channel I saw So, New Jersey to get hit with blizzard. Thank you Jkpal for your concern, as far as snuggling with pup, to busy shoveling snow off the deck so Cody has a potty area lol. |

Yonkers! Over this way wind is terrible. Temps are mild and we only got ~an inch and half. Hang in there ! |

Stay safe! I lived in New England all of my life and the winters can be brutal! That's why I'm CA girl now! |

1 Attachment(s) How low are your temperatures factoring in the wind chill? Please, please be very careful, cuz your storm can be life-threatening. Hopefully you can enjoy staying safely and warmly inside with cuddly four-legged babies! Piper finds cold weather somewhat exhausting, yes?! |
I put him on my lap and hold his lil paws to warm them up. I do exactly the same thing! Plus, I often toss her fleece blanket around her, so she knows I get how cold her little ordeal (of like 15 seconds) was...! |

Night temps with wind chill factor is -7 to -20, day temps staying at 16 to 18 with chill factors of 8 to 10 degrees. This is the coldest start to winter in the 15 years I have lived In Pennsylvania. Cody LOVES dashing out on the deck looking up into the tress for those pesky squirrels lol, now it's dash out and dash in lol. I use to wrapped him in his blankie that only gave him the zoomies and he wanted out again lol, so it's just pad warming's. |
At minus two degrees while sun is shining, means Piper is gonna shine those squirrels on...! Thank you, dahling, but I mean really...One simply doesn't do chasing at zero and below...! |
Ohhh, but two beautiful doe and their bucks tiptoe-ing through backyard early evening got Piper's attention. She started to bark, then seemed to consider their size, quieted a bit and remained almost motionless while watching them disappear before our very eyes. Dang, deer are magical creatures...I'm loving living in Lake Geneva--even with the cold and snow! |
Looking at the weather reports and talking with friends in NJ makes me embarrassed for complaining about our cold weather this past week. |
A friend of mine that was born and raised in Brooklyn NY, moved to Fl. 15 years ago was complaining last night on FB how cold it was at 45 degrees, wrote she moved from NY to get away from the cold lol, I would be in shorts right now if we had temps of 45 lol. Wed. night I saw on the news parts of Fl. was getting some snow, now that's one for the books. |

Our temps this winter are brutal for us....but, certainly nothing like what you are getting hit with. I grew up in the north...I feel for you. |
Hope all of my YT friends who are in the path of this killer storm are safe and warm. |
Just pulled this off the weather app Expect wind chills to range from 10 below zero to 25 below zero. * WHERE... Monroe counties. * WHEN...Until 6 PM EST Saturday. That's my county Burrrrr |
Wow, I just cannot imagine. In my world anything below freezing in unbearable. |
We are at 4 degrees with the wind chill. It’s nice and sunny though lol. This is crazy cold for here. Our roads are still really bad except for the very main roads. Penny still wants to play out there and I have to end those short because I don’t want her to freeze. Callie and Joey do their business and come back in. I’m glad I have a few super super thick sweaters for these couple of days. I’m also happy that Penny and Joey have each other because they are still getting exercise and keeping each other busy by playing chase, tug, and wrestling. |

What I like about zero and below temperatures... No one expects you to do anything--no errands, no visiting...! No one is surprised or cares if you're in jammies and under blanket at one in the afternoon. Everyone expects your pooch to be bundled-up. Everyone expects you to be carrying and cuddling with your little one. |

Maybe that's why people are often described as having warm smile...! |
