MacKenzie & Eleventh Hour Rescue Hello all YT folks, Just to let you know I filled out all the paperwork to get her and am waiting to hear from the rescue folks. I don't expect to hear soon, they said 3 days, but if I do get her I may need some help getting her from NJ to Louisville KY, but will work that out if/when the time comes. Interesting: she is 8 pounds and one of the sites said she is Yorkie & SHEPHERD😳 The whole story about this girl is beyond imagination for me! I would look forward to giving her a Diva life she deserves:) But may also need help explaining that to my spoiled, only dog, Cali! |
Eleventh Hour Rescue is very large. They have two or three shelters, but usually the small dogs are fostered. They adopt out a very large number of dogs . She is /was being brought from Texas. I wonder if there would be a way to get her to you along her way. I can't tell you how I admire you are for welcoming Mackenzie. Gew |
ThT is why I hurried up to send the application in thinking I might be able to work something out. Guess I will just wait and see. If I get her then we will look into where she actually is. Thanks for your input. Didn't realize they were so big in your area. |

I wish you luck in getting her, yorkiemini, it pains me that people just throw away their dogs because they get old, are too tough to handle or whatever other reasons. I mean really, is it really that hard to at least take some responsibility for them to find them a decent home or at least a program/rescue that'll help out?? Granted I got more affinity with dogs than cats, but either way I view them as people that just happens to be furry, walk on fours and have better morals than most :P |
Hi, Have you heard anything yet from Eleventh Hour? They usually respond quickly, I thought. It is amazing to that they would not be anxious to contact someone willing and able to love a 16 year old. I'm sorry. It must be very hard to wait. I left a text for a friend who is a vet who has donated some time to help them, but I haven't heard from her yet. She has a busy practice and does lots pro bono. Hope you hear soon. Gew |
No real word yet - just a note telling me they didn't ship dogs and was I prepared to find my way to New Jersey. I assured them I would get there, and confirmed my address that they had asked for. I did ask how far they were from the nearest airport. So now I just wait. I am hoping they know her personality well enough now to tell me What mode of transportation would be best suited for her. |
They are located in Rockaway NJ. That is north Jersey. The Newark airport is i in Elizabeth which is east central NJ. I am in Hunterdon County, western central NJ. I am somewhat geographically challenged, but I think ABE airport would be easiest. It is in PA, east central PA. If you chose to use ABE, I could pick you up and take you to them, about two to three hours away. I would guess Newark airport would be about the same, but much more congested and much further from me. You would certainly be welcome to come here if you like. Gew |

I have plenty of room here for you and Mackenzie. I'm sorry I was not specific in inviting you and Mackenzie to stay with us. Not sure where in New York LadyGemma is. Certainly Rockaway is near the NY border. She has , of course, access to the three NY airports and Newark. I would be lost forever trying to get around in NY. Whatever you choose is just great. You are really going that second...third...fourth. Extra mile. Just know I will do whatever I can to help. Lady Gemma it is so generous of you to provide options. Many many thanks to both of you for your offer of assistance. I am really out of my element in that part of the US. Have not heard yet and the references I gave have not been contacted so really don't know where I stand. My hope was that I could maybe fly up there in the morning and catch a flight back that same evening but can't really make plans yet. But once again, so grateful for your support to take care of McKenzie! YT is the best!!!! |
