Sleeping arrangments

I and my husband let our 7 month old puppy sleep with us in our bed. We are used to him and even in our sleep seem to know where he is and have never rolled over on him. Is this an ok practice?

My hubby & I have slept with our yorkie Madison in our bed since she was toilet trained (about 8 yrs) as well as our Shih Tzu Maggie (11 years). Kinda crowded, but it always worked for us.

I've kept my dogs in bed with me my entire life. I think it's sweet and a great bonding time. It's absolutely whatever works best for your family

Last month my dear sweet Dolly fell out of bed & died. Before that I would have said "Yes, of course, let your loved one sleep with you." I still don't think I could give up those 13 years I had my little one snuggled next to me every night; from the time she was a baby she wanted to always be with me. After the accident I tried to get Teena to switch to sleeping on the floor in her bed, but she she let me know that is not happening now! I know a man who rolled onto his human baby & killed her, so I'd say sleep with your dog knowing it's a risk.

Exactly what happened: I was staying in a hospitality room at a nursing home. We were sleeping in a twin sized hospital bed & I was on the computer in the morning while laying in bed. Dolly was snuggled next to me as always, sleeping, when she just slid off & hit her head on the baseboard heater. She was gone immediately, without making a peep. Very sad. She was 13 & 100% healthy & peppy. I guess there's a chance she had a heart attack or something & that's why she fell, but I'll never know for sure.

Rylee injured her foot slipping off the couch once so now the girls are not allowed on the bed until I have body pills & blankets piled around all sides... quite a funny scene in the evening. Rylee is also only allowed on the couch when the ground is cover with pillows etc. I can't keep Monroe from jumping on & off the couch, so I've given up on that battle

We always had our dogs in bed. Now our newer bed is very high and dangerous if our yorkie fell off of it. We put the night time collar on with the leash then I tie it to my hand. Kinder does not move around only to give my husband a scratch on the head to get down and go pee on her pee pad . I wake up instantly if she moves toward my husband to go potty. It has worked for us for years and we know she is safe. Susan

I remodeled my bed at home to make it lower than how it was designed. I always surround the bed with pillows on the floor. I had always been very careful, as both my dogs were only 3 lbs. each. But this happened during a family tragedy we weren't prepared for. There's always a "but", isn't there?

Add one more shih tzu and a cat to your group and that's what sleeps in our bed. 3 dogs and one cat...my hubby and I both get the sliver on the edge of the bed so they are comfy 😀 It's all about those fur babies!

Our pup sleeps in her crate next to our bed. The one time she is in our bed is in the motorhome in the wee hours if she gets cold. If we roll her way, she lets us know by pushing us with her feet. We usually find her with her head on one of our pillows, covers up to her chin. We end up at the edges.
4.5 lbs rules the roost!

I know a lot of people who sleep with dogs bigger than a Yorkie. I remember when we decided that with the kids and pets we needed a bigger bed! It's nice to have but the truth is they all want to sleep right next to you to soak up body heat most of the time so the bigger bed didn't really give us a lot more space!
