| First yorkie ! New member ! Hey guys so my fiancé surprised me with a baby Yorkie 2 days ago! She was literally the cutest thing I've ever seen I named her pixie !! Anyway moving on I'm just looking for a little bit of guidance here because I want to make sure that I take care her to wait right way. Pixie has been eating a little bit a dog food but she won't really drink any water. I believe that she was taken away from her mother a little bit too soon ! We believe she's six weeks. My fiancé said that the breeders just want to get rid of her so I'm happy that we have her! But she still she trys to suck on or fingers to get milk And when nothing comes out she will start to cry. I'm just worried she's not getting all the nutrition and she needs. She's Peed a few times but she hasn't pooped. I'm just looking for some suggestions on how I should take care of her !! Thank you all in advance ! Last edited by TainaLovesPixie; 05-12-2017 at 03:22 AM. Reason: Grammer |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hi - welcome and CONGRATS! Soooo, I don't want to scare you...but I have to be totally honest with you: you are caring for an *extremely* vulnerable and FRAGILE little kiddo here - so you need to be incredibly attentive to her. And it sounds like, from your post, that you're already getting there. Six weeks is CRAZY young for this puppy to be away from Momma - it should be there for a full 12 weeks! That's an extremely looong time and extremely important time for a puppy's development - and your pup is going to miss out on all of that socialization etc that should be there. First and foremost, get thee to a Vet, ASAP! Get the puppy totally checked out, vet can help with age, and you can get some help - in person- with how to feed this little one bc you may need to hand feed or whatnot. The most important thing for this puppy is nutrition, at least every 3 hours right now. That's your first/main battle. Also, have Nutrical on hand...you have that, yes...? Once you get the food figured out, start googling how to socialize a pup who is taken early from Momma - there are things you'll need to do. Good luck, keep us posted!

| Welcome to YT and congrats on your new baby baby girl. I agree 6 weeks is much to early to take that baby away from her momma. When you got her did you take her to a vet for a check up. That should be done 24 to 48 hours after you get a new puppy. This sucking business scares me, at 6 weeks they have already been weaned from the momma and eating solid puppy food. She could be younger then 6 weeks old. If you have not taken this baby to the vet I suggest to do so like NOW. As Wylie's Mom has stated, the vet can best tell how old this puppy is. She must drink water to stay hydrated, if she gets dehydrated she can do down fast. Did you keep her on the same food this "so called breeder" was feeding her. It is always best to keep a new puppy on the food they were eating to avoid upset stomachs. Nutrical is a MUST with young puppies, it can save their life. PLEASE get this baby to a vet for a complete check if you have not yet done so, and tell vet about no pooping yet, not drinking water and trying to suckle liquids. Please keep us posted on this wee lil girl.

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk! I hope your new baby will be okay. As others have stated, she is way too young to be taken away from her mother.

| Update Hey guys small update . Pixie doing a lot better in just the few days we have had her. She's been to the vet . She got some weaning formula and she been eating puppy dog food drinking peeping and pooping ! She still kinda of bits my finger but not really sucking on them anymore just kind of like play biting . She has been walking around and play with our other dog, who happens to be a pit. He lays there and lets her play with his face it's so cute ! But I'll keep y'all updates ! |
