| Going on vacation Hello, I introduced myself earlier and I am planning on adopting a puppy this fall. Next March, during Spring Break, my parents and my goddaughter and I are going to Disney World for a week. At the time we go, my puppy will be between 5-7 months. I am not sure that bringing my dog would be the best thing to do. I was planning on having a trusted family member or friend take care of my puppy, most likely at my apartment. Do you think this would be bad for my puppy? Would it be traumatic? Thank you for your advice. BethyVic |

| That's exactly what happened for me too. I got Scottie when he was 5 months old. A month later I had a one-week vacation. The only person I'd trusting leaving him with is my mom. Prior to leaving, I made sure they got to know each other because Scottie is a very timid little guy. And of course, I had to 'train' my mom on how to take care of him. It was probably more traumatic for me than for Scottie. I got my mom to facetime me every night! My mom loves Scottie though because she misses having a dog around the house and she LOVES dogs.

| This really helps, thank you. I was worried that I could permanently damage my puppy my making it think I abandoned him or her. |

| Oops. I meant to say I got my mom to let Scottie and I facetime while I was on vacation. lol So yea, your puppy will be fine! Just make sure you let your family know about all the potential risks and be extra careful with the puppy (i.e. don't let him jump off furniture and break his little legs; make sure he doesn't run away if they take him out on a walk; don't give extra treats because it'll upset his tummy, stick to a strict schedule for feeding/potty etc...). When you're back, he'll be SO happy to see you again. After giving you a TON of kisses, he'll forget that you left him at all. But on that note, I have a friend who's dog would have a little pissy fit. He'd be mad at my friend for a day for leaving him. But he'd get over it by the next day!
