| Oliver's Sister Well, Oliver is almost 3 now. After a very bad experience last fall with my 8 month kitten dying fro feline leukemia, I decided to get a puppy instead. So Oliver got a little sister. She is not a Yorkie, but is the most adorable Pom/Chi mix. I love her to pieces. She is 12 weeks old and just over 2 pounds. She is very smart, and Oliver loves to play with her, even though he is jealous when I'm holding or playing with her. But I'm having a devil of a time getting it across to her to use the pads. She'll use them in her exercise pen, and she'll use one when she's out playing if she happens to be there when she has to go. She'll use them sometimes when I take her to it. But if she's playing she'll just go wherever she happens to be. And she's fast! My eyes are right on her all the time, but she'll be running around and all of a sudden just go. LOL

| She will get there as she is just a baby and she is trying but it takes time To me she seems to be getting the hang of it pretty well. Just keep up what you are doing and tell her what a good girl she is every time you see her do it right. Such a sweetie!

| I completely sympathize with you that she is wearing you out,yes I understand so well. I hope for your sake it gets better soon. I hope you are still able to enjoy times with her to make it seem worth the difficulty you are going through. Hang in there. It surely will be better by and by.

| She finally lets me sleep through the night, mostly. Hmm, is it wrong to rock your puppy to sleep at night? LOL

| What does she do to keep you from sleeping through the night? I understand you wanting to do what you can to get her to sleep. It can't be wrong but it may cause you another problem. That sounds cute though. LOL Makes me think of rocking a baby in her crib so she will finally go to sleep. Is that just an idea or what you have been doing? You poor dear!

| If she wakes up at night I have to get her. If she poops in her pen she'll step in it, roll in it, and not even care. But I don't want her to think it's time to play. So I sit in the chair with her till she goes back to sleep. She's getting much better about that though. She was too young when I got her, only 8 weeks, and now at 13 weeks she tries to stay out of the poop LOL She sleeps all night most nights now so it's much better. Later, when she's housebroken, she can sleep with me like Oliver does. I had 6 children, so rocking during the night is nothing new. Haha My youngest moved out last summer.

Haha My youngest moved out last summer.[/QUOTE I guess 8 weeks must be too young. I had always gotten my dogs at that age but evidently they are way too young and haven't learned enough from their mom yet. And I see that it is any breed dog that should not get a new home till about 12 weeks.Mom would just clean them up at that tender age and as you said it would not matter it they rolled in it or stepped in it. That will change with your tender care and training. I would never get another puppy for that reason alone. It can be so tiring. I am a mature lady of 70 and tire so easy, even more than when I was young, so what you are describing would be far too much for me. lol But there is good news you said. She is getting better and it should keep getting better with each passing day. That is good that she is sleeping all night, most nights. Have you any pictures of her you can post for me to see?
