| YT Newbie ISO Breeder Hi,YT group! It was recommended that I drop a few lines to introduce myself and meet some members! We lost our boy Kitty January 5,2016. He was a little over 16 years old. We miss him terribly. Little did I know the day he passed was my favorite great Aunt Honey's birth date. She passed many years ago but her love for dogs is where my love for dogs all started. She would give me a doggie calendar every birthday when I was a child. She never had children so her dogs were her children! When someone in her neighborhood passed? They would leave her their dog. It always seemed like there was always new fur baby when I went to visit. I loved to go to her house and play with them and even do poop patrol in her yard for her. LOL. Let's rewind seventeen years. We owned a steakhouse here on Hilton Head.We downsized from a big house to a condo and I wanted a small breed and it was love at first site when I saw my first Yorkie. I decided yup that was the breed for me! So every morning at our restaurant I had my morning coffee, checked the paper for a Yorkie and then unlock the doors for lunch. I did this daily for four +months to find a Yorkie, but to no avail! Everyone told me I would never find a YORKIE in the paper and if I wanted one I needed to get on a breeder waiting list cause they were highly desirable. But I kept right on looking anyway! lol So here I was doing my daily thing at 10:40. I noticed a lady peering through our front door windows so I unlocked the doors early and let her in. She asked if she could place a to go order early and pay cash, I said sure! She placed her order with our hostess and overheard an employee ask me if I had found a yorkie yet. I replied ,no but I still look everyday in the paper!! The lady said, did you just say you were looking for a Yorkie!?? I said yes I am. She said,I don't believe this but I just moved to Hilton Head two days ago and I was told I was allowed to have a dog and now I'm told I can't and I have a 12 week old Yorkie right now in my car that I don't know what to do with!!Would you like to see him?? I literally flew out of my seat and to the parking lot with her trailing behind and asked her what car was hers. After she told me I didn't even ask her if i could open her car door I just looked in the windows and saw him lying on the back seat floor under a bunch of fast food garbage bags fast at sleep. I quickly grabbed him and said yes I want him!!!! It was love at first site! I was so beside myself I asked the hostess to call my husband and tell him to come to the restaurant right now to pay the lady cause I just found my new baby!!! I have always said he found me,I didn't find him. I felt like he was a true gift from God or somebody that loved me in heaven!! He was ALWAYS at my side and as much as he loved my husband he would growl at him sometimes when he would scoop him up from me to go snuggle at bedtime. Kitty would always find his way back downstairs after about 20 minutes or so in bed with my husband. It's like he would wait for him to fall asleep and sneak away.LOL! A little resistant on the house training but I soon realized he needed two options to relieve himself. Thank goodness for puppy pads!! Other than that issue he was such a joy. I miss our walks on the beach, road trips and him running errands with me terribly! He loved to hang his head out the window and went everywhere with us if possible.. We would really like two fur-babies this time so they have each other if we step out for a couple hours or what not! He had a beautiful blonde face with a little gold in it and a dark grey body. I had no clue that puppies went through such transformation. It was quite interesting seeing the "metamorphosis" ,lol. We both loved his color/markings and want the same trait in our new fur babies. We're looking for a boy and a girl.I believe the color is blue(dark grey saddle) and gold/tan face/feet. I have been looking for weeks and I am seeing all kinds of colors that I have NEVER seen on a Yorkie. I am wondering if anyone can recommend quality breeders that have this color available? I'm aware they all look about the same as puppies but is there a tell tale signs to look for this trait? It seems logical that if a blue and gold mates with a blue and gold that would be dominant color? The few breeders I spoke with said they can't guarantee color. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Colleen HHI,SC |

| I'm sorry I can't help with the breeders, but I loved your sweet story about your puppy! I hope you find one (or two) soon!

| Look at the breeder list on the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America web site. They are listed by state. Stay away from Craig's list! You might also call the nearest American Kennel Club in your area and see if they have any member breeders. Good luck! Keep us posted!

| As to the colour look at the mom and dad that might give you a bit to go on but not always no matter what colour you will fall in love. When we decided on getting a second dog from our breeder after almost 3 years with our Bella, we told her what we were looking for long story short we took Lily , Lily was nothing like what we thought we wanted BUT she was what we needed. Lily climbs up hubbys chest and snuggles into his neck and lays there for him to cuddle ( my hubby is sick and the look on his face when she does this is worth it ) Hope you find you babys. |
