Newbie Chocolate Yorkie Owner Hello, Everyone! Our Yorkie, Lucy, came to us in late February, at 10 weeks old. She is a gentle, quiet, and sensitive girl. She chose my 11 year old son who is a sweet and shy introvert also. Repeatedly crawled carefully up to him and climbed slowly into his lap. Once she had her first heat, she began having the oily skin and hair. She was on the same food, Costco small breed puppy food. I've read the posts that say it is a cereal allergy, and I'm beginning to wonder. Her breeder has never had a dog with the problem. She suggested the food was too oily. I tried a less expensive brand, purina one, but no improvement. It takes only 24 hours after her q 2 week bath before she is no fun to pet. Her hair is really thin, fine, and silky. She's about 4 pounds. Her head is white, and she has a lot of silver in her coat. I'm thinking I'll go back to the Wild Bison Puppy food we started with, and see what happens. Maybe massage a little cortisone cream into her skin. I'm glad that it isn't just a condition she has to have. I thought we'd just have to live with it.

Eh- what's a "chocolate" yorkie? Chewie is the exact color you described, i Mean silver white on the head and streaks of silver throughout her black/tan coat that is lightening each week. She's simply standard. Her hair is oily a lot, and it's stringy to boot. It isn't anything to do with anything but her hair. Exfoliating shampoo helps her. Every time she comes home from the groomers, she's soft and shiny for 10 days at least. it's when i add the medicated stuff we use, or the papaya that the soft and shiny disappears. It's all in the shampoo.

A chocolate yorkie has a brown nose, and doesn't have black or white. They tend to be a chestnut color, which Lucy is, but they can be darker or more blond.

It's that dog on American horror story. I was watching season 1 the other night and I knew that the dog looked like a yorkie, but the color kept throwing me off.
