Leaving my 1.5 year old yorkie for the first time for vacation!

I've heard horror stories of people hiring 'sitters' to come by at certain times everyday and when owners came home they found out the sitter didn't fulfill promise--sometimes missing an entire day. Scary stuff that...I just don't think 'outsiders' care for or care about understanding our little ones and their needs.

It can be easier to place your dog in a home, rather than try to pay for a 24/7 petsitter living in your house.

I rarely leave my dogs, how-ever when I have, I leave them with my trainer who I know knows how to control large dogs, and they get to go to training every single day with him :-) But on the otherhand they also have to live with his pack of 6+ dogs.

Yes, have you tried Rover.com yet? I'm a Rover sitter and it's been just awesome. We've hosted the most amazing dogs !

I would search your area for someone who is very familiar w/ small dogs in particular, has a small-dog safe yard etcetera. That way, your kiddo is not in a kennel, but in a home.

Rover.com sounds heavenly but it is only in the US (an we're not). You're right about finding someone familiar with our breed. I'm looking. Thankx

We asked someone to put out there we needed a live in sitter when we're on vacation. Got lucky and found a part time college student someone knew that was looking to make some money. She was fine staying here to study, watch tv etc. and it's spring break week so no school for her.
