| Husband v animals Hi all I moved 200 miles thought my husband and I would be closer but nothing has changed. We have 1 and half acre field which we have bought and put on 8 young hens, I mentioned before about my Yorkie Lexi who I rescued after my Ellies death we are so close I love her so much, she won't go out with my husband. I am thinking of buying a puppy I love animals so much, but would Lexi think I am ignoring her or would she enjoy having a puppy around. Would love any ones advise. |

| Depending on how old Lexi is she should accept a new kid around. It won't happen over night. Older dogs are scared of puppies because they do not smell like a dog lol, also puppies are nippy, like to chase the older dog, high energy, very playful, older dog / only dog has to get use to this. It can take Lexi a few weeks or a few months before she will actually stay on the floor with the new one, in the end the usually end up BFF. And you would NEVER ignore Lexi lol. I had 3 girls all 3 years apart, yes the new baby will take "some" attention away from Lexi but somehow we find time to give our older ones MORE attention. If you want a new puppy go for it, Lexi will not be ignored and will have a playmate, nothing funnier then watching two yorkies playing.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | All dogs may have some adjustment time if/when a new addition arrives - but they will get through it in time w/ some TLC and attention. You sound unsure if you really want one or not...?
