I have both a male and female. I see no difference in temperment. The price seems reasonable especially for NJ. |

I am not a breeder so I have never studies genetics too much. |
http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/Genet...Chocolate.html The red or chocolate born are affected by the bb genes. The red or chocolate born, referred to as liver in some breeds will also have self colored pigment, such as red, chocolate or liver nose. The Yorkshire Terrier should only be carrying the dominant BB genes. I have not heard of health problems with the red/chocolate born puppies, like with the blue born puppies. Yet most of these situations occur with backyard breeders and puppy mills and they are not likely to share the history of problems with the show breeders. Once again this is a recessive being passed on to the puppies from the parents. This breeding should definitely not be repeated. |
this is one of the best sites explaining the genetics written by Joan Gordon http://dandugmore.netfirms.com/color.html |

Chocolates are cute and most reputable breeders are probably glad that they are rare. They are pet quality, not the standard. Just like parti, tri, tinies, baby doll face, or bat ears. BEauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you want one get it but understand you are getting a pet that should not be bred. Same as all of the above. |
Wow, I learn something new on here every day. I never heard of a choc yorkie. does that mean it's brown all over? As for temperment, I've always had females, and loved them. Right now we have two males and they are great too. I think it doesn't matter what sex they are. And, $950 is a great price for NJ. |
awwww.... All 3 furkids are precious!!! I love that little milk-chocolate nose!! :D |
They are sooo cute! I love that little chocolate brown face! Makes me want one!!! |

The chocolate has nice eyes - I wonder if they will stay that color. I also like the first one. If it's a good breeder, that is a decent price for NJ. Good luck. |

I was just about to type these same exact words! Great minds think alike, Susan! :p |
Very cute! I really love the first one though and the price is way below what I've seen being from NJ myself. How did you find this breeder? Just curious to where they are. I've called many breeders from the ytca website when I was looking. Good luck! |
I don't know anything about genetics in dogs. But, my question is, if when she gets there and there is another pup available, would it be best to get the one that is NOT the chocolate one??? Just curious! We've always had females. I don't think that I could contend with the "marking" males do. |
