| ![]() Vacuuming your floors and under furniture cushions and along edges of the walls is one of your best weapons. Always empty the vacuum outside right away. Using a flea comb on your pets before coming back inside will help keep them from getting a ride into your home. This has been the worst part of the flea season. I use Advantage II for dogs under 10lbs on my small ones but only for four months out of the year. I don't like using them but we have a terrible flea problem in our area and have two cats that go outside in the woods everyday. Natural products alone will not get rid of the fleas. Diatomaceous Earth is a very inexpensive powder that is totally natural and can be sprinkled around your home and yard to kill fleas. Some people sprinkle it on their pets which is safe but can be drying to the skin and coat. |

| ![]() Thankfully I do not have a flea problem. I have always used Frontline and my dogs never had fleas. June Cody's stool sample showed mites in it, my vet advise me to start using Simparica it's a chewable for fleas and ticks, she said it may get rid of the mites. Aug. stool sample showed no mites, so now I will stay with that until flea season ends. Several years ago before Spring started my now passed girl had fleas, I had not yet started her on the Frontline, she wasn't scratching so I didn't know she had them, I had taken her to the vet to have a wart removed, it was the vet that saw them, she gave my girl a Comfortis chewablpe tablet, Comfortis starts to work 30 minutes after the pill is taken, it KILLS fleas that is on the dog. I ended up with fleas in the house. I vacuumed everything 3 times a day. As gracielove advised empty vac outdoors. I emptied the canister outdoors into a plastic bag, knotted the bag then put that into the trash pail. The reason of emptying the vac outdoors is because fleas can jump out of the vac. You don't want that in the house. To rid the house of fleas vacuuming daily is a must, and ALWAYS empty vac out doors. As a precaution measure, I buy several flea collars, cut them into 3 inch strips and stuff them between the sofa cushions and behind furniture my dog cannot get behind, I replace with fresh strips every 3 months year round. If your dog still has fleas ask your vet about Comfortis, one tablet works for 30 days, and that is usually enough time to rid your home of fleas if you vacuum everything daily or like I did, several times a day. Comfortis is recommended to be used once a month, with my passed girl the tablet my vet gave her killed the fleas she had on her, with my vacuuming several times a day the house was free of all fleas, I did not continue the comfortis, I used the frontline. IF Cody ever gets fleas on him that is what I would do after checking with my vet first, give him one tablet, treat the house, make sure Cody and the house are free of fleas and stop the Comfortis.

| ![]() What flea meds are you using? Have you made sure you are getting rid or them in your house?
