Vacuuming your floors and under furniture cushions and along edges of the walls is one of your best weapons. Always empty the vacuum outside right away. Using a flea comb on your pets before coming back inside will help keep them from getting a ride into your home.
This has been the worst part of the flea season. I use Advantage II for dogs under 10lbs on my small ones but only for four months out of the year. I don't like using them but we have a terrible flea problem in our area and have two cats that go outside in the woods everyday. Natural products alone will not get rid of the fleas.
Diatomaceous Earth is a very inexpensive powder that is totally natural and can be sprinkled around your home and yard to kill fleas. Some people sprinkle it on their pets which is safe but can be drying to the skin and coat. |
