chocolate Yorkies? Hello everyone! I'm not new. I joined a long time ago but have never posted. This is where I come to read answers for any questions about Yorkie when I need reliable owner information. That's why I'm posting now. I have tried to research on my own but don't really trust the answers I'm getting. You see I have a 6 yr. old standard female and just recently I was called to take in a puppy who's mom passed away. Of course i couldn't say no. The thing is that I'm thinking she's what they call a chocolate Yorkie. I think that's a term for too much red in the DNA. Other than that what do I have? Her ears are huge, she's showing blue and cream undercoat. She's charting to 5 lbs. I'm wondering what to expect. Do chocolates fall under the same guidelines for height, weight, temperament, etc? Don't get me wrong, we all love her dearly and would never give her up but I chose a Yorkie 6 yrs. ago because I'm a single mom with 3 kids and everything about Yorkie size, exercise needs, etc. fit our family. The adorable factor is just a bonus! I'm wondering if there are any differences in chocolate Yorkies such as predisposed conditions and /or health problems etc. that I should be aware of. My older female is the only Yorkie my vet sees so he wasn't able to answer my questions. So if any of you can help me out with info on the standard expectations for adult chocolate Yorkies I'd sure appreciate it. I trust that any info I get here will be the unbiased truth unlike random internet searches. Thank you! |
