Ive tried my other dogs food with him also, and even a piece of cheese. No luck yet. And i am using a paper plate cause that is what he is used to i guess. |
Broke down and tried sausage links. He eats that just fine. Lol. I am sure this so stressful for him. Just wanted to make sure he had sum thing in his belly. I really wish that I could call in sick today but since my boss knows I got him last night pretty sure she would know why I wasn't coming to work. Thanks guys for listening this morning. I was freaking out just a little. |
Sooo happy for you. When I adopted Cody he weighed 9 lbs, you could see and feel his spine, see and feel his ribs, for ME he was too THIN. I fed him 1/3 cup dry food twice a day, he gained weigh rapidly. He still gets the same amount and is holding at 12 lbs. I was lucky with my guy, no problems with him eating. I am SURE you ask his owner what food he was eating. If you can see, feel protruding spine and rib cage he is a BIT under weight, once you get him to eat regular try, say 1/4 cup food twice a day, even 3 times a day to get a little weight on him. He is tiny so you do not want him to get FAT, just filled out a bit. It may take a day or two for him to settle in and eat. ALL dogs LOVE boiled boneless chicken cutlets (breast) . I would try the boiled chic cutlets, small amount shredded INTO dry dog food, you can even sprinkle some grated Parmesan cheese onto his food. A FLAT saucer can replace the paper dish, paper dish can move all over the floor when they eat. Try hand feeding him just for now. He just needs time to adjust to his new surroundings, smells, family, and doggie buddies. Just as a heads up, changing foods can cause diarrhea, do not be surprised should this happen. Week end coming up, more time you can spend bonding with him. What a lucky boy he is that YOU found him. (((hugs))) |
He was actually eating the same dog food my dogs do so no changing food needed. She brought a full bag with him. I messaged her and she said he eats meat well. And that I can treat the food like treats if needed. I don't feel ribs or anything, just not much fat over them. I'm anxious to see what the vet thinks on Monday. But I've added chicken to my grocery list. Lol. |

Thanks so much. Actually have everyone out and everyone getting along. Lol I think my Boston thinks Cain is a puppy. |
That's wonderful all the pups are getting along. |
Just wanted to say he is doing wonderful. Actually ate a little dog food with his chicken yesterday. He is adjusting well to his new home and did not go hide in his crate one time yesterday. He goes in the morning to the vet for his exam, shots and neutering. I am sure I will be nervous all day. |
Hi! That's great! I tell you, my boy came out of his neutering the same day and was just a little sleepy. My girl took a couple of days to be completely herself. How much does he weigh? They do the anesthesia a little differently for the littles. Any pics? |
