My Dog Lies! Penny always comes and tells us when she has used her puppy pad and we reward her with a treat. Lately, she has tried to pass off an old spot as new (I know she doesn't go anywhere else). When I tell her "Nope" she trots off. Other times, she will come to me and ask for the treat then turn around and find my husband and try to get him to give her a second treat. I am beginning to think she is too smart for her own good. She has brought so much to our lives. My husband was never a dog person but Penny is his baby. It's funny really. Our daughters can't believe how he has taken to a tiny little girl.

The other day a DirTV serviceman came to the house. His physical appearance was a bit imposing--big guy--like he probably played sports to win. I picked up Piper so he could open back gate, and I was a bit surprised when he said (as he touched her little head) "I just love little Yorkies." It was so heartfelt and, as I said, rather unexpected. I think our girls appeal to the guys cuz these little gals tend to be feisty and independent and ridiculously entertaining. Yet, they're needy, affectionate, flirtatious, and just so littlelittle--guys feel protective (I'm only guessing here). Anyway, give your husband a high five for unabashedly loving his baby girl!!!

| Minnie had a similar scam when I gave her treats for potty trips. She'd go bark at the back door to get let out, I'd let her in back, 20 seconds later she'd bark to come in and then sit pretty in front of the dining room table and wait for a snack. So when I potty trained Cookie I made sure to never offer anything but lots of praise for successful potty trips.

Mine do the same thing with the puppy pads for a treat! Hahaha they either just lift their leg and don't do anything or, more recently, lift their leg over an old spot and don't do anything lol

...with yorkies, no pickup lines needed...Very true, I imagine! I'm sure the guy has more phone numbers than he can keep track of...I wonder if he gets one little, Yorkie-loving gal to pet sit his pooches while he goes out with another...Noooooo....!Shame on me. And we know his little dogs are getting regular exercise!

What a smart little stinker she is! lol That's why I have never done any training of any kind with treats. Just for that very reason. Just praises and pets and lovings is what I give out.
