They have the most beautiful faces. Hard to resist....until I get to the $5000 part, then its really easy!

Have'nt found the thread it was mentioned in yet but it was only a few days ago,mind you I'm no expert but scam was mentioned (not my words) Just the fact that their charging these kinds of prices for Yorkies that are not within the breed standard frankly put me off. After viewing the site without a doubt money seems to be the driving force behind this breeder....IMO.

I met Cigale and she (and her friends) are people I would recommend if I wanted a dog with that look. Some people prefer that rather than the standard. She, and a circle of friends breed for tiny babydoll face. If you appreciate that, you would appreciate her. Yes, the prices are high and more than one needs to pay for a Yorkie, even in Southern Ca.

That being said...the circle of people who are trying for the babydoll look in CA are ALL charging similar prices.

Standard Yorkies from other reputable breeders are less.

This is unsubstantiated and inappropriate conjecture in my opinion. I have personal knowledge of this breeder as does Shelbysmom and she is ethical, reputable and responsible. For you to imply otherwise without personal experience is offensive to me.

This is how rumor and hearsay on a forum can do irreparable and tragic damage to a person's reputation.

Please be very careful and consider the consequences of what you post.

JMO - I think most people know what they are looking for, whether it is breed standard or not. I knew the breed standard when purchasing, but never took much thought in it. I just wanted to find a HEALTHY, baby doll faced pup that loved me. I wanted to know the second I saw her that we were meant for each other, and I did. Those not interested in breeding, like myself, may be looking for their perfect yorkie, not 'the' perfect yorkie. JMO.

Also, I live in Virginia and I ended up having to pay $2000 for a female baby. It may be my area too, like Cali, that has high prices. That's what they all typically ask, and it appears that's what they get. I've even had locals tell me I got a 'good' deal. I think it is too much to ask, but for a beautiful, healthy Yorkie I'd pay anything I could, knowing it would always be worth it. For me, once I held Laila for the first time, I have never questioned or thought of the cost sense. It was pennies to pay for the love I have recieved in return.

You speak very highly of this breeder. However, what is considered "ethical, reputable and responsible" is more often than not, an opinion. Do you feel this woman exudes these qualities in all areas, or just the one being questioned here? I see that she only sells with a spay/neuter contract. As we all know, that is something that you are very much against. I don't know if you have ever referred to it as 'un ethical in those exact terms, but this IS part of her breeding practice that you are referring to in your quote above. One aspect you don't agree with because of your opinion? Then how can you criticize someone else for voicing THEIR opinion on something she practices?

He used the word "scam" in reference to another thread on the subject but could not produce the thread. You can say IMO all you want but that does not protect you from saying there was a "negative thread" here and the word "scam" was used and then not produce it. He did not say IMO this breeder is a scam. It is dangerous speculation at best. It is highly likely that he is mistaking this breeder for a different one and that is not anything that anyone wants to be a part of....at least I would hope not.

I wish he would produce the thread or admit the error and apologize.

I have NEVER said that I consider breeders selling on spay/neuter contracts to be unethical, disreputable or irresponsible. Some of the very best breeders disagree with my opinion on routine neutering but that does not mean that I feel they are not reputable. We are all grown ups right? A breeder does not have to agree with everything I agree on for me to consider them a good breeder.

Ava's breeder who is a good friend of Cigale's usually sells on a spay/neuter contract too but she advised me not to spay Ava because she also felt she was too small for the risk and she knew that I would NEVER breed her.

BTW, Cigale actually whelped Ava's litter because Carol was out of town on a family emergency so Cigale was the first person to ever hold my little baby!!!

I know you weren't intending that comment to be positive about the appearance of these puppies, and my little Ava since she shares this "look", but I personally love the faces on Brussels Griffons so I take it as a compliment anyway.

YES they do like like Brussels Griffin! Still very cute but not what I'm used to seeing in a standard Yorkie.
