| ![]() My husband is a tv watcher, and since the very first night she's been here, he's watched TV. Mostly with her!!! I put on The Witch and this little girl was playing peek-a-boo (it's a horror but nothing horrific had happened!) with the baby and she went nuts. It's only when I'm holding her, or she's in the room with ME. Not to daughter, not to hubby. It's any show, and I'm a gamer, too. She's also growling and freaking out about my games. With that and the shrill barking at mealtimes, I'm going out of my gourd. What the heck! Chews is a quiet little gal, except for these things, oh and that nasty little yapper next door, Chewie now hates every dog she sees that look like him. So, she growls at them, too. What in the heck do I do to stop this?! |

Shrill barking at mealtimes sounds like she's trying to manipulate you into giving her attention while you eat or giving her some of your food. This to me is an obedience issue. Growling at other dogs is a big issue you may want your trainer to help you prevent now before it gets worse.

| ![]() I'm SO tired so I won't answer the replies in order b ut I'll answer! Yes, food is definitely an obedience issue. We are taking care of it, and it's slow going- she's so stubborn, lol. I can now make the shush finger and I'll hear a barely audible "woof!" Still, it's not enough, and some days she'll try it again. Progress is being made. Nope, I have nasty sensory issues myself so my volume is low for me. It's also brand new behavior. There was an incident. Yes, it's been taken care of, but, the reason why she's growling at them is the neighbor's dog jumped off the balcony, and was caught in mid leap by the neighbor. Yep, you read that right. He, or she, was after not only chewie but another dog. It barks and yaps and yaps and barks all day and night. That same breed, four days later, was being walked by a neighbor that doesn't obey city OR condo rules and unleashed her damn dogs- again. One ran at my daughter growling. Daughter yanked Chews up and held her above her head, while the dog tried to take a snap at Chewie and almost my daughter. Actually jumped on my daughter to do it. Woman ran back to her condo, and animal control was called. So- before you ask, yep, that's over. We DID try talking to her, too, but she wouldn't come to the door the four times we tried. That's when the growling started. It's only dogs that look like them, too. She loooves other animals. Thankfully she's with other animals in training and at doggie day care, and our nightly walks. I don't see it becoming an issue, but trainer is aware of it. |
