YorkieTalk Newbie! | Need help in north Ohio. Does anyone know of a specialist in N. Ohio for Yorkies diagnosed with enlarged heart? Our 9 year old Morkie became lethargic last Wednesday and we took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with a enlarged heart. We don't know if he needs specialized care or can any vet treat this condition? My wife is very upset and feels helpless at this point. What do we do? |

| I personally would be looking for a specialist also. If you are unable to locate a specialist, a reputable vet college/university will be a fantastic option.... Please keep us appraised of what you are encountering, where you are on this journey, and allow us to help in any way we can....it is a difficult, long battle when our precious babies begin to fail....support from those of us that have been there, will help. |

YorkieTalk Newbie! | Thank you YorkieMom1, we have found a heart specialist in Akron. Lori S.Hitchcock DVM,DACVIM (Cardiology) at the Ohio Veterinary Cardiology,LTD in Akron,Oh was able to diagnose and treat our Benji on Monday. He was treated and monitored overnight in their ICU. His health turned around overnight, from being life threading to almost back to normal. We are still waiting the lab tests to come back and possible further treatment. We feel we made the best decision to look for a specialist and are very grateful that we found Lori Hitchcock to treat our little guy. We like to thank the staff at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron, Oh for their professionalism and hospitality. They are the best of the best! |
