| Yuck Yorkie eating Poop! Does anyone else's Yorkie eat their poop. This past weekend I was cleaning my apartment and my yorkies were in the kitchen. Well Boomer pooped on his pee pad. Since I was in the middle of doing laundry I said it can wait and will pick it up as soon as I finish. Well 10 minutes later I go to the kitchen and it is completely gone. I thought I was going crazy thinking he didn't poop but I smelt it in the air. I am not sure if Boomer or Thumper ate the poop as I have seen the both of them put their nose to poop before. I find it disgusting. Is there anything I can do to avoid them eating their poop? |

| Emma is a poop eater! And I agree its completely disgusting! I actually have used a pill in the past but it doesn't work. I actually just hurry up and pick it up and when she tries to eat it I scold her and now she's starting to know better but she'll eat it to hide it if I let her.

| Yep my 6 month old pup is notorious for this. He's gotten better now but will always always eat it if I don't pick it up right away. Also I found the only thing that works is distracting him with a treat and praising him for going on the pee pad and picking it up. If he sees me look panicked or rushing to grab it he will pick it up and run. |

| Zeusy doesn't eat his, but he will pick it up and bring it to you if you don't see it quick enough. He wants his treat. That's just as gross though. |

| Its probably the most disgusting thing they do. Usually they only poop when I walk them outside and it is not a big deal I quickly pick up their poop or if it is someone elses (No one picks up their poop in my neighborhood) I quickly move them past it. They only poop in the house occasionally so that is when I really notice them putting their nose in it and eating it. |

| My Spice was a real bad poo eater!!! From the time she was 5 mo until 9 mo I wold go nuts about t!!!Then I learned about pineapple chnks! I take a can and dran them them freeze them on a small pizza pan then put them in a small bowl n the freezer. I give her 3-4 a day. She was terrible from 5 mo (when got her) untl about 9 mo. Now every time she poos she gets praise and a cheerio after pick t up from her pee pad.If she happens to go during the night she leaves it. Something about the pineapple tasting good going in but not so good second time around! LOL |

| Lacy eats her poop also. I tried the frozen pineapple chunks, but it didn't help. Maybe I didn't put enough in. But she didn't seem to eat as much with the pineapple in her food, so I was worried she didn't like the taste and wasn't eating enough of her kibble.

| My Scottie doesn't eat his own poop because he goes outside and I pick it up right away. But my problem is when he's at the dog park - he is on a mission to eat every single piece of poop that other irresponsible dog owners left behind (as well as duck poop)!! It is so frustrating!! Some said they grown out of it, but I had a suspicion he wouldn't because of his pure love of others' poop. So, I've tried to train him out of it using the very stink green tripe. So far, he's improved a bit. Coincidentally the green trip really helped for recall too. Now, he occasionally goes looking for poop at the park and eats it. I'm just paranoid because of the diseases he could get. So, unfortunately, I have to limit his dog park time...to not very often. My past dog, Bibi, would eat her own poop though. She eventually grew out of it, if it's any help

YT 1000 Club Member | Adding canned pumpkin or pineapple to their food will make their food much less appealing for most dogs. Canned pumpkin is really good for their digestive tract anyway. You could try that and see if it helps. Mine only eat Cat Truffles so I don't have to worry about them eating doggie poo poo.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Wylie did this as a pup - go buy Solid Gold's SEP (Stop Eating Poop) from Amazon...worked immediately for our Wylie.

Thanks I will try this product. I spoke to my dog trainer yesterday and she said when dogs are in the wild it is a survival technique as eating the poop rehydrates them and gives them back nutrients. We have so many irresponsible dog owners in my neighborhood that it is hard to maneuver around all the poop on the sidewalk. Usually I am pulling them away from it. | |
