| NAME: Scruffy AGE: 15 1/2 years (born February 14/1991) HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED: 15 years M/F: Female HEALTH PROBLEMS: Scruffy has cataracts. It's worse in her left eye which is all fogged over and it's becoming harder for her to see. Other than that my vet has given her a good bill of health. DO YOU GIVE VITAMIN: No ?? Should I, My vet has never told me too ?? Hey Everyone, It's great to see all these older Yorkies. Scruffy is a Yorkie-Poo. The last time I took her to the vet she only weighed about 3lbs. She eats all the time and she's still very regular when it comes to doing her business. Scruffy has always been a very jealous dog. She's never really gotten along with other dogs or small children, but I've noticed the problem has increased A LOT over the last 2 or 3 years. I'm not too sure what to do. It's come to the point where I can't take her for walks to dog parks or let strangers pet her. She goes right for the throat even with big dogs. She has no fear!!! It's quite scary sometimes She sleeps ALL DAY and only comes to see me when she needs to go for a walk. She doesn't like to play anymore and seems very timid when it comes to just sitting on the couch beside you. I'm worried that she has become too withdrawn from everyone. I've also noticed that she has started to go to the bathroom EVERYWHERE. Even right in front of me after we've come inside from a walk (when she fully went outside). It's like she's totally forgotten how to be house trained or that it's a "bad" thing. The vet says behavioral problems are common in older dogs, but I'm not sure what to do. I feel like she's trying to punish me but I'm not sure why. Any advice would be very helpful. I've attached some pictures of Scruffy; Before & After!! Hope to speak with you all soon, Stephanie |

| Dogs age just like humans...they become senile and do odd things. I doubt she is even knows what she is doing at times. If the vet has checked her out..teeth etc and there is no pain causing her behavior problems, then all you can do is be patient with her. Arterie harden and there is a lack of oxegen to the brain as with people...makes for some strange behavior changes as we age. Best wishes |

Now that you've mentioned it, her teeth are really bad. They need to be cleaned horribly bad but they don't want to put her under. She's lost at least one of her molars and the other is ready to fall out. I want to switch her to wet food but it used to make her sick when she was younger. Any suggestions? Should I just mix the 2 together for now? I don't think she's in any pain sometimes she yelps when you try and pet her and she was a lot of "old dog warts" on her back and neck. The vet said he could remove them but 10 more will come back. I guess it just comes with the territory of having a 15+ doggie. | |

| names are tye and zac they are twins and are 12 they will be 13 on the 30th of december ive had them from the min they were put in there mums tummy as i bred them my self. zac damaged his liver when he eat a plastic toy and has a reaction to frontline were he sees things and gets blisters on his tummy but apart from that he has never had anything else wrong with him and still plays like a puppy. tye was never ill untill about 2 years ago he now has asthma fluid in his lungs which he has meds for and a bit of a heart murmur but he still trys it on with the 2 girls when they are in season lol and still likes to play even if he starts coughing in mid play mode ive been lucky with them really and glad they took after there dad scampi as he was never ill in the 15 years i had him untill he died of heart problems caused by old age, wheres sasha there mum had everything going, bowel and tummy problems, fits, eye problems, womb problems, cancer, and then heart problems which caused her to have 2 heart attacks and sadly i had to have her pts when she was 12 as there was nothing the vets could do for her (she didnt have any problems before she had tye and zac just incase someone thought i would bred knowing she had problems). so if anyone wants to know anything about any of those problems let me know.

| Hey everyone, I haven't been on here in months but I thought I'd post one last message before I leave for good. I had to put my baby down on November 19th 2006. I took her in for a check up and her blood work came back and showed her kidney's were rapidly failing. I had her put down the next day. She was 16. Enjoy and love your yorkie!! Stephanie |

| Scooter turns 8 today! No health problems and all he does is smile all the time and plays with his baby brother Sam who is 10 months old. Cidney is 13 1/2. No health problems other than might come with being a senior dog. When my husband is at home with him and I am at work, CIdney will lay in his bed all day. When I get home or when I am at home on the weekends, he is up and with me where ever I am in the house. The old guy still rolls out of the bed with me at 4:30AM to sit with me while I get ready for work. I do think he is loosing his hearing and maybe some of his eye site. He has several old age warts on him which I have had checked out. He eats well since I home cook for him and still likes to chase a ball every now and then. He insist on his daily walks and every once in a while I will have to pick him up because he tires out. |

| Donating YT 500 Club Member | This thread pre-dates me by quite a bit, so I guess THAT's why I've never seen it. I knew there had to be Yorksters out there older than 3 or 4! NAME Ozzie AKA "The Moose" AGE Will be 10 on June 22 HOW LONG HAVE YOU OWNED Since 11 weeks old M/F Male HEALTH PROBLEMS AND WHAT YOU HAVE FOUND TO HELP Always had ear problems; last year, starting having anal gland issues and has two bouts of HGE since November DO YOU GIVE VITAMIN Gets multi-vitamin and live culture yogurt everyday along with his homecookin' (and add anything else you think might be helpful) Ozzie is one of the "big" boys (13.5 pounds) Except for ear infections, he has not really had health problems 'til last year These are all recent pix of my baby. He is VERY active, so much so that I can't believe he is almost 10! |
