| Fleas! Allergies! Arg! So I know there have been tons of posts on fleas but I am trying everything. Molli seems to be allergic to fleas and is chewing herself raw we've already been on a round of antibiotics and prednisone. Every time I think I have this flea thing under control they come back. Why won't they die?! I washed all our bedding, puppy bedding and I got a flea spray for the house. I just washed both my pups then once they were dry I put on Frontline 2 days ago. Last night I saw an alive flea crawling around on both of them. What do I do? Can I put on different flea stuff? The frontline website says not to reapply but I can't let Molli get bit and get flea allergies again. I'm so frustrated, this has been going on about 4 months but they arnt infested, I only find 1 or 2 fleas. I also live in an apartment so if they are getting them from outside theirs not much I can do. Help!!

| Poor Molli! Teddy sympathizes, he is highly allergic too. All it takes is one flea to create a lot of havoc. Frontline stopped working for us, but we are going to try it again next year because Teddy doesn't do well with any of the preventatives. Keep washing bedding and vacuuming. Others have suggested putting a flea collar in the vacuum bag. Also vacuum your car if your pups go in the car. Wash the pups at least once a week -- it won't interfere with the Frontline once it is absorbed into the system.

| After you vacuum, IMMEDIATELY remove the bag and get it out of your appt. Not just in your trash, completely out of the appt. Vacuum slowly and every single day for several days completely disposing of the bag every time. We use frontline, but I also I keep Capstar around and dose it about every 4-5 days when we have fleas around. I also give Mario Capstar if we go somewhere suspect of fleas ie vet, dog park, pet store, someone's house I am unsure of, etc..... You can give Molli benadryl (OTC) for the itching or your vet can prescribe Atarax. You may also be able to apply a steroid cream to keep her away from, and soothe the spots that are worst. Check with your vet on both those routes. The theory is if you see one flea, there are 50 more you do not see. | I have NEVER had a flea issue like I have had since that last flooding event! OMG!!! I am spraying my entire yard with DemonMax....all over theyard and 3 feet up the brick on the entire outside of my home. Frontline is not touching them....if it is, I sure can not tell it! I am trying a new flea/heartworm/worm med....supposed to be really a great thing, but we will see.....my mind just went totally blank and I cant think of the name of the product....I order my meds from Australia, have for years with no problem at all. After I try this "new" med, ("new" for me!) and can say how it worked, I will let those that are interested, know what it is. |

| It's so weird though because our apartment is 80% hardwood. We hardly have any carpets. Is there something I should do to the hardwood or is a good swifter-ing enough?

| Maybe this recipe will help with furniture? 2. Herbal Flea Spray to Get Rid of Fleas from Your House If you have been thinking of a flea bomb loaded with chemicals to eliminate fleas from your house, you must reconsider once and give a try to this herbal spray instead. This homemade flea spray uses such ingredients as lemon juice and witch hazel. They are entirely safe for your pets and kids. Here’s the recipe for this herbal flea spray. Get this: Vinegar- 1 gallon (a little less than 4 liters) Water- ½ gallon (a little less than 2 liters) Lemon juice- 16 oz. (a little less than 500 ml) Witch hazel- 8 oz. (a little less than 250 ml) Fresh vacuum bag- 1 Home and Garden Sprayer- 1 (this sprayer should be able to hold at least 6-7 liters at a time) Do this: You need to do vacuuming and then spraying with the flea spray. Collect everything that cannot be vacuumed and wash it at the hottest setting of your washer. This kills even the larvae and eggs of fleas. Now vacuum properly. Vacuum each corner, upholstery as well as cervices with the help of various vacuum attachments. Use the fresh vacuum bag. This ensures unrestricted air flow. Debris that collects from earlier vacuuming may hamper smooth air flow. Now mix vinegar, water, lemon juice and witch hazel. Fill this liquid mix into the garden sprayer. Spray using a heavy spray. Spray your carpets, furniture, pet bedding, window sills, floors, every nook and corner of your house. Do this daily for at least 2-7 days depending upon how bad is the flea infestation in your home. When fleas become less noticeable, you may then repeat every 3-4 days and thereafter once a week throughout the flea season. If you start using this non toxic spray just when the flea season is approaching, you will need to spray only once a week throughout the flea season.
