Charlie!!! You little rascal, you! Keep these wonderful updates coming, please! I tell my Pipe to "...give me that squirrel..." and chase her around until she leaves it under the couch and waits expectantly for a treat. Uhhh? And she's figured out how to get her little bottom scratched by bowing and it's like I have no will of my own and simply must scratch that little high-end hinnie! Bunch-o-smooches and scratches for that cuter-than-ever and ever-so-clever Charlie!!! |

I just don't understand why you can't provide Charlie the comfortable, pampered, much-indulged lifestyle he deserves...Oh, wait...You're quite sure his lovely blanket isn't too, too soft, right? He's not suffering from sleep deprivation or anything, right? I hope he doesn't have the burden of 'manning' the tv remote cuz he needs to concentrate on keeping his blanket just so...Heck, now I get why Charlie hates going in the car! Ain't nowhere that vehicle can take him that can compare to his lovely, loving home and the luxurious lifestyle he as perfected within...Ohhh, Charlie--you never cease to impress and amaze! |

Our Yorkies are amazing Quote:
Yes! But to really test this drive/killer instinct you should let them find a real mouse in your house! ! ! Buddybear found one in my sewing room and shook it nearly to death, when he dropped it and it moved the slightest he shook it again.....omg, he rattled his little brain so hard I think it gave him vertigo as a few minutes later he vomited some. DH told him what a good boy he was, instructed me to give him a treat while he dispensed with the mouse out side.:D It's good to hear Charlie is still King in your domain, oh, I mean His house, lol. and I'm so glad Piper is keeping her mommy in control. We owe a lot to these little ones for keeping up moving and our minds active, trying to outwit them. Their may be hope for the car ride trip fiasco we face with ol' Charlie and Buddybear. We have made 3 trips, 1 1/2 hours each way, to look for a house. First experience was NOT nice. High pitched whining both ways....:(...Second trip I gave him a small portion of benadryl, no major change but a bit less of the whining. Third trip, I meant to put 5 drops of a natural calmer downer, but it squirted in his mouth instead. Decided that was enough. He was fidgety on the way down, when we arrived to view the house he was all wound up outside. I always carry him in the property we are to look at, no accidents wanted thank you or for him to pick up Germs. {yes, I got a strange look from our real estate agent...He thought I was off my rocker I think} Before we left Phoenix we stopped by a Culver's for a snack...DH bought chicken strips, Cheese Curds, Fries and a soda for me. Well, Bud thought he had died and gone to heaven. He he sat on his soft little pillow of a throne between our seats.........eating small bites of fries, then daddy feeding him small bites of cheese curds....OH, was he Happy:D He laid down and fell asleep:confused:......You mean all this time all he wanted was to be fed junk food while the car was moooooving????? Two days ago, I took him with me to run to get take out for dinner and he sat on his soft little throne again with minimal noise, just a few whines, and was thrilled when I rolled down the window to let him look inside the drive-up window of the sandwich place. He was such a GOOD boy on the way I home I almost thought someone switched Yorkies on me!!!:) Dare I test the waters again with another outing??? He turned 2 in July, do you think that is the magic number? or the number of trips to Phoenix??? which he better get use to as we are buying a 2nd home. OH, Happy day if this is the end of the screaming!:thumbup::thumbup: |

We will give it a try. We have tried a few times but his whining is so loud I actually get dizzy some times. When we leave the house - he runs up to us and backs up so we can pick him up but when he gets in the car...well you know. Anyway - you have given us some hope - the wife is getting ready to run down to babysit the grandkids next week so today will be our only chance to try it out - will let ya know how it goes. If this works we will invest in McDonalds!!!!!!:D |
DH bought chicken strips, Cheese Curds You bet these items make the car trip; heck, I'll ride in the trunk if means munchin' on cheese curds (I grew up on a dairy farm in Wisconsin...can you say idyllic?!) |
I have that "problem" too Quote:
Yeah, I bet a lot of other Yorkie owners have the same "problem". I can sympathize with my Yorkie-he has no playmate and I can only imagine how lonely he gets without me there. I will get him a playmate soon. My Yorkie "Mr Bean O" is 14 months old, weighs 15 pounds lucky for me does not bark in the car but he is afraid of a car ride too and presses right up against me for comfort. |
At first I would give my Yorkie a treat then head out the door. He was busy with the treat. But, after a while he got wise to my act. He saw my ritual (put on a jacket and put on my shoes and wallet into my pants). When I give him a treat he takes it and immediately drops it to the ground. Then he waits for me to make the most subtle movement to the door and he attacks me. He gets aggressive, barks, unties my shoelaces, tries to pull me back with his front paws and teeth. So, that treat idea fell apart. So now I give him a treat and take the basement door and he (so far has not caught on) sees it okay as if I am going to the basement to do a project or head outside in the yard for some yard work.
Have you tried a booster seat? In a booster seat he will be able to see out of the window. A small price to pay for your pups comfort, may even loose his fear of cars. BTW my now passed girl was 17 lbs :) |

:( when we are getting ready to go - he always runs over to his Sherpa Metropolitan Tote Bag and jumps in ready to go with us - sure wish we could sit down and talk to him about his screaming - but, he just looks at ya and jumps back out when he realizes we aren\'t taking him. Every few weeks we try taking him again but it always ends up with his screaming... |
