YT 3000 Club Member | new puppy maybe I have not been on in awhile, chester and I was on our long road trip, he was 13 on 9-24 my handsome boy. My girlfriend who I got chester from has a puppy that she wants me to get, he is over 12 weeks old but I dont know if chester would do and all the work involved with a puppy. He is a cute little guy and a little more shy than chester was. I just keep thinking I would break chesters heart, and traveling with two dogs and one of me would be harder than just chester. Im having a hard time with this because you all know how puppies make us feel. We are at our busy time at work right now so I keep thinking of that as well, I hate making decisions......I dont want chester to feel left out, he is the love of my life thats for sure. Im done rambling |

| That's a tough call. On the one hand, Chester may actually love having a playmate. But...and this is a big but, he might not. My husband and I travel with our 3 in the summers and sometimes it gets a little "ruff". However, since Chester is already trained it will probably be much smoother for you. Good luck in whatever you decide.

| I agree with barneysmommy It could be a good thing but then your little Chester may be jealous since he has been the center of all your affections. I had three older yorkies and they were very close. Then in one yr I lost two of my sweet little girls leaving my little male Beamer. At the time Beamer was about 12yrs old. I had been depressed over loosing two special girls and I wasn't sure I was going to get another. Beamer was grieving for Bree one of the girls we had lost because they had been raised very close. Like you I was trying to make the right decision about introducing a new baby!!! To make a long story short we did get another puppy a little male who happened to be very loving and gentle and adjusted to Beamer quickly. He actually would lick little Beamers face and lay close to him in Beamers bed. So it was a good thing for us because Beamer seem to enjoy the company. We then got another female who came into our family and they all got along sooo good. It could go just as good for you too. I think it depends on the personality of the puppy you get also.. Since this is a good friend maybe there could be some get acquainted time for your little Chester and the puppy with your envolvement. I'm sure your heart will lead you through this time of decision and you wlll know whether little Chester is ready for a new buddy.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I too really hesitated when we had only Wylie, and then started thinking about getting another...it felt like such a big decision and I became very indecisive as a result. I finally bit the bullet and went forward and I am SO happy I did, bc that brought our little Marcel into our life, and he was meant to be ours. Although I now have 4 dogs, I do think 2 is the ideal number bc it's still easy to travel with 2 etcetera. If you get another one...Chester may be insecure/needy for a while, but he will get past this, I promise.
