Yorkie Yakker | Need help with yorkie coat! I have two yorkies and I don't want to get them cut this winter as I heard its going to be one of the worst winters we will have in our area. I trim their nose feet and butt but don't want to cut anything else til summer. My problem is one of them hates his hair to be tied. Any ideas on how to keep his hair out of his head? Thanks!!!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | How about a tiny hair claw clip instead of tying it...?

| I know the feeling -- Zeus is not having anything in his hair. We did the hood/bangs for awhile; however, we decided to cut the hair over his eyes. He is much happier. We don't cut anything else on his head. This summer we shaved his body but left the legs and head long (except hood/bangs). We are not cutting his body this winter, but will keep his hood/bangs cut. I'm attaching two pictures -- the first is with the hood/bangs and the second is without. |

Yorkie Yakker | Hmmm I guess I will keep trying. I do not want to cut his hair on top it will look weird to me. I only shave the top of his nose because I once took him to a groomer when I didn't have time to trim him myself and I specifically told her not to trim the top of his nose and she did. Thanks though. |

| The hair on top of Zeus's head is not cut. It is the longest part on his head. I would say it goes down to the nape of his neck. It is only the "eyebrow" part that they cut -- the part directly over his eyes. They taper it long around the eyes down the side of the face. Only the part directly over the eyes is cut. We don't want his head cut either, but he simply won't leave anything in his hair. Believe me, we tried everything known to woman to clip bangs back! |

Yorkie Yakker | Sometimes I just want to put a little gel and slick it back but then I know someway he will scratch and scratch my other yorkie is OK with the hairtie in his hair I have put them in ever since I got them so I don't know why he don't like them. Even when I put their jackets on when it rains for them go potty he will just sit there until I take it off. I understand what you mean by trimming the top of his hair above his eyes. I don't want to cut anything. I was thinking maybe my sister could braid it but I'm sure that would bug him also. |

| If you come up with something, please do share. I tried gel, and he drove himself crazy rubbing his head against the back of the couch! My husband and son hate the eyebrows being cut. We cut Zeus ourselves, too. We were at our wits end, because the hood/bangs were starting to bother him as long as they were. My sister has a friend that is a groomer and told me to call her to ask what to do. She said cutting the hood/bag was all that was left. She offered to do it, but she is 2 1/2 hours away. We would love an alternative as well. |
