Yorkie Talker | Newbie Hi everyone I am new here and I wanted to share a lil about my new Yorkie; her name is Lina and she is 5 yrs old I got her from a family member who was not taking very good care of her, My baby is overweight and has a skin issue and was never really taken outside for walks. I love her personality she is adorable but she needs a lot of TLC and I work from home all the time so I can give her all the TLC she needs. I look forward to reading and getting as much advise from everyone as I can. Thank You |

Yorkie Talker | Skin I am not sure what is wrong with her skin, it looks like dandruff similar to what humans get but the flakes are big and she has so much caked on her and she has bald batches, her hair is just starting to grow back. She does have a medicated shampoo i am using and I also use a oatmeal shampoo. I was told after bath try rubbing some baby oil on her to keep her skin from drying out, is that safe? |

| Congratulations! So Happy for You! Your life will be forever changed for the better. I would suggest a vet visit to assess her overall health. She may need some shots, too. You want her to have the best start with you. This forum is wonderful. It helped me so very much when we adopted our Bella. We had never had a dog before he. They saved me so many times with their care, support, and knowledge. Welcome to the forum! So wonderful you are able to make this little Yorkie's life better. |

Yorkie Talker | thank You I appreciate all the suggestions and I will get a vet visit asap! and Try the Coconut Oil and changing her food. I know she needs a lot of TLC; she soaks up all the cuddle time and she LOVES being outside so much so that she doesn't always use the bathroom just looking around curious. I love my Lina, already blessed to have her. |

| Be careful on changing her food, it should be done over a period of 7 to 10 days. if you feed kibble what I do is my Cody gets 1/3 cup of food at 7:AM and 1/3 cup at 5PM... Day one I take out 10 / 15 kibbles and replace with 10 / 15 kibbles of new food, at 5PM I repeat. Day 2 AM feeding 1/3 cup I take out 20 kibble and replace with 20 kibble of new food...PM feeding repeat AM amt. Day 3 1/3 cup of food,AM feeding I take out 25 kibble, replace with 25 new food, PM feeding repeat AM, I continue this until he is eating only the new food. It depends on how many kibbles 1/3 cup holds, that determines how many kibbles I take out and how many new kibbles I replace. Transition should be over a period of 7 to 10 days so as to not up set their digestive systems. I do a 10 day transition, 7 days is advised. If you feed wet canned food take out 1/2 TSP old old replace with 1/2 TSP new food and build up every day until they are eating just the new food.
