| Blow Dryer Phobia! Advise needed! Hi All, Looking for some creative advise please! Presley is my second Yorkie. Jingle was my first, when I brought Jingle home (from what I know now was an irresponsible breeder, young and clueless) within 24 hours I had him at the doc, not for a well check but because he was sick with tonsillitis. My doc told me then that whenever I gave Jingle a bath to always blow dry him, he was small and did not need to air dry because his little body would stayed chilled etc. Sooo long story short Jingle hated baths but LOVED being blow dryed. Presley has turned out to be opposite, he LOVES taking a bath and playing in the bathtub with his rubber ducks...but oh my God he HATES getting blow dryed!! He fights me horribly! I have tried to make it fun and a game, I have sit on the floor, couch, bed etc and nothing works! He hasn't been burnt by the dryer as I go on low setting. I am scared not to blow him dry as Jingle consistently weighed 4lbs 10 oz, Presley is 4lbs 15 oz. I know this sounds crazy but if you have any ideas or tricks you do please share, I do baths once a week, the bath part is always fun but the drying part makes me dread the whole thing! Thanks!

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | do you have a crate or hard carrier, that you could put him in and set the dryer so that it blows in on him - kind of like they do at some of the groomers?

| No I don't use crates, the only carrier I use is the back-pack type that you strap on to your body. I do have a stroller that completely encloses...

| Hi-do you blow dry your hair? I kept ella in the bathroom with me everyday while I blew my own hair so when I blew dry hers, it was ok. Just a thought! |

| After I give Cody a bath I towel dry him till he's slightly damp, yes I use 2 and 3 towels because he HATES the blower but LOVES the rubbing towel, he is always kept in a puppy cut so no matting from all the towel rubbing, summer time I let him air dry, now with cooler weather I have to blow him. Blowing his body is not all that bad, it's his face that freaks him out so I hold the blower high over his head, have the blower on low setting, as I am blowing I use my other hand to mush hair on his head and neck, I pass the blower just a few time across his face which is the part he hates the most. I don't care if his face is fully dry, but his body must be. Good luck.

| This is exactly how I got Teddy to be ok with the blow dyer! I'd sit him on my bathroom counter and blow dry my hair. I'd randomly shut it off, let him sniff it and turn it back on. Sometimes when he was up there I'd put it on cool or low heat and aim it on his back. He seemed completely unbothered, so once I started to blow dry his hair, he'd just plop down and let me dry him. |

| Mine is the opposite! Well let's say he doesn't like neither one, lol. He doesn't fight me when I blow dry him, he just doesn't like his face wet so he always rub his face on the sofa. That's where I blow dry him, I put him on a corner of the sofa so he doesn't have anywhere to go and I sit in front of him blocking him from going anywhere. If he tries to get away I put him back on the corner, the whole blow drying process takes me about 5-10 mins. |

| Zeus actually likes the blow dryer, because he hates being wet. He's not overly fond of getting a bath, but he doesn't put up a fight. |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Hi Cindy, good to know you. Am in HHI area, we were extremely lucky here. Live across from an intercoastal and couldn't believe all the problems in the middle and north part of the state. Tks for asking.

| Thanks so much for the idea. I don't crate at all, I don't even own one...my husband is very much for crates and I'm not, so needless to say we have had some interesting discussions on this topic ~ we are both hard headed lol...I do have a stroller that will completely close up...so if all else fails I might give this a whirl!

| That is how my Jingle was. Presley is so different, he doesn't care if he gets wet, he LOVES playing in water. Literally everyday he gets in his water bowl and sloshes it all over the floor, he has a baby pool that I have to keep up and only put it out with water when we have time for him to go 'swimming', we live at the beach and he loves to go in the inlet and in the ocean, not scared one bit, but when he is in either of those he is leashed and I have a death grip on it lol, and he has on his life vest, he is my wild child
