| Rejoice With Me! Just had to post a celebratory thread in honor of dematting my poor baby. Took a couple hours yesterday and at least an hour today but besides his belly it's under control now. I feel bad that I let it get so bad but he would scream everytime a brush came near him... Now that I cut all the tangles out he seems to be okay with it, poor thing. Oh and, his fur doesn't look butchered! Everyone eat a slice of cake in celebration with me! And share your grooming horror stories!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Yay - no more mats!!! I know what you mean about grooming....it can be such a pain (for you both) if you let it go too far. My Marcel has to be brushed every other day, for sure, or he get so knotted up! We had a horror story...when we first moved to Phoenix, our Wylie decided to LAY DOWN in a cholla cactus - OMG! Just awful to remove.

| Matting is the reason I keep my boy in a puppy cut. I could never keep him in full coat, he is discovering hunting, he digs tunnels then crawls in them lol, besides I love the puppy cut look on yorkies.

Yay congrats!! I can imagine how happy you both must be lol. I brush Teddy every other day and had no idea until last night that somehow he has quite a few matts under his belly, on his legs, by his butt. Today I have decided to do exactly what you did! Cut out all the tangles and hope he doesn't look like a mess after lol | |

| I would love mine with long hair (must look very cute) but since he was a puppy I keep him with a puppy cut. I may try soon medium long hair. |

| Hey, I'm all for any excuse to eat cake! But really, congratulations to both of you for getting through what must have been a really tricky process! It's gotta feel great for each of you!! |

Senior Yorkie Talker | Congrats, I know how hard this can be on your and your furbaby. I brush Chloe everyday, she dosen't seem to mind, but Abby is the exact opposite, you would think you are killing her, one tiny pull and she will shreek, when I try to cut out the tangles, she seems to know when I have scissors in my hand and won't stay still at all, it can be very dangerous. I used to get her clipped, but I tried this past March and the clipper had to call me to come get her, she was so stressed the clipper was scared she would have a heart attack, Abby is 16 years old. Today was bath day for my girls Chloe did great, but poor Abby, she is clean, but even with my husbands help it was extremely difficult to get her brushed, couldn't even get any of the matts out, the only thing she finds fun about this whole process is playing with her bath towel after. |
