| Birds? I caught a parakeet. I kept her for a week until I found her owner. My alpha would not stop whimpering and trying to get to this bird. Would that ever stop if I bough birds? |

| Might get bigger cage and place in separate room. People call me the bird whisperer, I'm really good at tame ing them, at least parakeets birds and various other smaller birds that cant break your skin on your hands |

| Before I had yorkies I had birds (dwarf parrots) and a poodle. I would let the birds out of the cage, they had their wings clipped, they would go on the floor and walk on the poodles back, that dog was so good with birds. Then I got my first yorkie, she would sit under the cage salivating over the birds, 2nd, 3rd & 4th yorkie the same thing, they wanted to kill the bird, the fluttering of their wings would drive the yorkie wild lol. When the birds died I never got anymore. Watch that lil bird, around your girls.

| BIRDS!!!! THAT was a huge game here!!! My precious little Lexee would go slap dab crazy if I would start chanting, BIRD!! BIRD!! Where is the BIRD Lexee??!!!! and she would run all over the back yard, up and down the fences, looking at the top of the fence or circle trees, looking up in the trees, for BIRDS!!! She used to have an absolute BALL chasing the birds out of the fruit trees I have planted in the back yard....Then she would run back to me for us to go get the bird!! She would even go nuts over a feather duster we used to have, thinking it was a bird!!! I so miss my little "Bird Dog"...... |

| Winnie is interested in our bird....when he is on my shoulder she comes up into my lap and sniffs him. He doesn't seem to mind her either....but we don't trust her to do anything other than that lol his cage is in the office and once he's put in there she forgets about him.

| Yorkies are prey animals by breeding. I would suspect it could be trained out of them, if you are consistent and patient. Mine is still chasing the outdoor cat and they are about the same size *sigh*. Time, consistency, and patience will fix this too.

| Ginger and George, my yellow cheeked Amazon, that I've had since 10 weeks old and is 32 now are best of friends. Ginger will stand on hind legs, George will come over and they will nuzzle each other thru the cage. |

| Just saw this post. I recently rescued two parakeets from a very bad situation. At first Scooter was obsessed with them and wouldn't leave the room that they were in. I then bought them a large cage on a stand and I worried that Scooter would jump on it but other than barking at them if they fluttered around he pretty much leaves them alone. I will not be bringing them out of the cage because I know that is a recipe for disaster. That's why I bought the big cage so they have room to fly around. They are so cute and I know that when I'm gone Scooter is barking at them because the other night I heard barking coming from the kitchen. Scooter and Bitsy were on my bed so lo and behold it was the birds barking. Guess they hear a lot of it when I'm gone.
