| So Sad My daughter and I went to the mall today and i had no clue but there was a pet store there so we stolled on in to have a peek. They had 3 yorkies and i asked to see one just for grins and giggles(no intention of buying) When they brought her out to me she is shaking i felt terrible, as soon as he hand her to me she was so calm and happy i got so many kisses as did my daughter. My daughter and the pup played on the floor while i pounded the guy with ? after ? I asked about her parents and he pulls out a 5 gen pedigree and says all puppies have a 3yr warrenty against anything genetic. Any way when i was done he gave me her id number and breeder info and what not and then says she is $2295 and we can do financing so she can go home with you today. I said not today, and handed her back the moment i did she started shaking again. I we were leaving i saw a choclate lab that someone just got done looking at that they were trying to pick up but he kept cowering away I about started to cry. I could not believe how many people were acctualy there to look at or buy pets. I just wanted to tell everyone of them about puppymills and what not.

| Oh, that is so sad. Another reason why we all need to get the word out about puppy mills. I tell as many people as I can never to get puppies at petstores unless they are from rescue programs.

| Wow Kari, i had the same experience last week Sunday. We took a drive to Belgium and on our way we saw a "puppy kennel" i should NEVER have asked my husband to park the car, i was curious and wanted to go in and have a look "STUPID ME" i couldnt believe how busy that place was and how many puppies were sitting there behind glas windows The last window we looked into there were 2 yorkies, while we were standing there looking the owner of the shop took 1 out " it was sold " they were both sleeping snuggeld up against each other so the sister woke up looked around, she looked us up and down mannnnnnnnnnnnnn did that hurt i was in tears i cant stop thinking about her she is SO beautiful. Even my husband gave me that > < look. I had to run out of that shop i just couldnt stand what i was seeing/feeling, im still sad for her and mad at myself for leaving her there its heartbreaking to go to those places!!

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | I can't even go in those stores.....the last time I was in a Petland was years ago and I ranted about it for weeks ..I know I drove my husband insane but after crying then getting mad...I was so frustrated at how our precious dogs are treated.....That Pet Store owner showing all the papers probably had them faked or made up - I just cannot see any pedigrees in a Pet Store. The sad thing is ....The ones in the Pet Stores are the lucky ones - they're sad in there - but it's a step up from the horrible mill where they were born.... the Mill puppies are suffering everyday to provide those cute Pet Store Puppies. It's evil. |

| That's terrible! That was one of the reasons I got my pup. He was so happy! I was very unsure when I first walked thru the door. There was a large room with crates and like 20 yorkies. The guy is an independant distributor and deals with breaders all over. Not knowing how safe that was I took my chances. I liked the fact he gave up expected weight and price before we even said we liked one. They were all excited jumping like "pick me pick me" and none seemed scared of us when we went to pet them. The minute my boyfriend picked him up he curled right up and went to sleep. That was it we fell in love. I am not sure if he had all the shots that they claimed he had but I took him to a great vet and he made sure he had everythign he needed to stay healthy... I do want another one close to the summertime so that Diezel can have a playmate but I am thinking this time I might go to a breeder. |

| What I can't believe is that people will pay those prices. I mean all they have to do it look in the classifieds of the newpapers and see, what a breeder wants for the same breed.

| It is sad. So many people are uneducated about where these poor babies come from. We have one in our mall here that luckily our community fought and fought and supposedly this June when their lease is up they are being kicked out. I can't even go in there b/c the babies make me so sad. And what is even worse, that most people have no clue about, there are typically anywhere between 5-15 pups kept in the back that are too sick to be put up front.

| I go into our local pet store fairly often to visit all the sad little puppies in there. I can't help but stop when I drive by. I NEVER ever buy anything from the store though, and I'm sure it really annoys them. It breaks my heart to see all the little furbabies behind glass walls looking sickly. A few months ago I was walking around WalMart holding Macey (muahahaha) and a lady approached me and asked a few questions about her. She then told me she used to work at the pet store in town, and that she had "about three or four of these little babies die because of hypoglycemia." Well DUH it tends to happen when you only feed your 10 week old dogs twice a day!

| EXCEPT -- remember - many people have gotten great little pet dogs from pet stores. We have several wonderful pets in my family that different people have gotten from pet stores over the years. I visit my local pet store and see happy, friendly, frisky, healthy-looking, little pups. I am sure if any one purchased one of these little guys, took him home, and gave him routine vet care, and a lot of love -- things would go pretty well. And - I can't tell you how many little pups I have seen in puppy stores that I wanted to take home - and, I'm sure they would have been fine - These little guys were happy, healthy, little pups and I would have taken care of any problems they had -- but doubt they had any serious problems. I had two cats for 14 and 17 years that my daughter bought for me from a pet store. One had weepy eyes when we brought it home - which we treated - and it never had any health problems after that. I hate puppymills too. And, don't like mistreating little pups in stores or anywhere else. But - sometimes, I think we go a little overboard thinking some situations are 100% bad...when this isn't always the case. I purchased my little Yorkie from a family-owned pet store, and from day one, it has been an exceptionally healthy, happy, friendly, playful little guy. Carol Jean |

| Im sure occasionally its not always a bad situation with pet store puppies, but since we do know that these bad bad puppymills exist-- I will not support any kind of business that does it. And I dont think that is going overboard.

It's sad how these animals and dogs that we love are treated and sold in these stores. It's just sickening. I found out yesterday that our local feed store had 3 yorkies in there and they were TINY!!! Come to find out, they were barely 6 weeks old.

| I am so sorry you experienced this sadness today. The vast majority of pet stores that sell puppies and kittens are the pits. I guess the birds and bunnies and rats don't fare much better. The only way that these pet shops will stop selling puppies and kittens is if people stop buying from them. At $2,295 (make payments, we finance) the profit margin must be incredible when they are buying from puppy millers and rock bottom dollar prices. UUUGGGGHHHHH |
