Heart broken in VA I recently joined YorkieTalk.com and posted about my two 12 week old female sibling Yorkie's Royal Countess and Royal Duchess. We have since discovered they are Dorkie's (Yorkie/Dachshund), and are regretfully looking to sell them. WE WERE SCAMMED...Advertising pups, if any interest on Hoobly Classifieds @ https://www.hoobly.com/c/listing?id=Akzny...Thanks... |
How did you find this out? Did u do DNA testing? Nobody likes to be scammed.....but it seems kind of unfair to the puppies..... |
Are you wanting to purchase Yorkies for a breeding program? |
dog All dogs are precious no matter what the breed. That's what I believe. Each has their own special personalitư. I am hoping these pups will be in a home that loves them if you do not want them. |

Kindness much appreciated at this time as this is not easy...Unfair to pups...UNFAIR TO EVERYONE...Only VICTOR is SCAMMER! No DNA, however two Vet's have assured us they are Dorkie's; one female after four weeks looks exactly like a Dachshund with silky hair and the other female looks only similar to a Yorkie with curly hair. We are 60ish and 70ish and thought we were purchasing very small Yorkie companions as we are unable to handle or care for 15-20lb adult dogs. No way of knowing their adult size, because the parents shown us are apparently not legit. Research indicates up to 20lbs...Please don't criticize us for knowing we can't care for larger dogs as we are trying to do the humane thing...Don't like explaining our motives as we aren't mean people, just realistic, and want the best possible for the pups...What would you do? |
You should be ashamed to even put those thoughts into words .. Especially on a forum full of people who love dogs! |
That's terrible you were scammed! Were you able to see the puppies in person before purchase? See sire or at the very least the dam? Were they registered AKC/CKC (Candian Kennel Club) or any other reputable registry which may be foreign? We all love dogs, but if I pay for and research a Yorkshire Terrier that's what I want period. Not half yorkie, three quarters yorkie, etc. Hopefully these puppies will find a new, good home. |

I can fully appreciate what you are saying, because my sister has a great little dog that weighs 16 lbs and though I love him I can't handle him if he gets stubborn or begins to pull on his leash when he sees another dog. I on the other hand have a 2 1/2 pound Yorkie and she is a dream to handle....I can just scoop her up if she gets difficult ! By the way, I am 71....get the picture. All the best finding new homes for those babies ! |

I think you are being realistic. It would be difficult to lift larger dogs. I am sorry you were scammed. |
I am sorry you were scammed. Unfortunately, we see a lot of that here and people are very passionate about it, and as I am sure you can understand, care about the welfare of the pups. Because you posted in the general forum it opens up your post for comments even if you are not asking for opinions. If you are only looking to advertise the puppies there is a different section for that but you would need to be sure it falls within the rules. I wish you and the poor puppies the best. |

Good luck in finding homes for the pups. You are absolutely correct - this is a lose - lose situation for everyone except the scammers. Are there any steps you can take to not allow them to get away with this? Are they local (small claims court)? At the very least post their identity on this site so we can spread the word to avoid them like the plague. |

If you truely need a tiny dog you should look into adopting an adult, that's the only way to guarentee size. An adult may also be better because they're calmer and less into everything. |

That link did not work. I wish you luck in finding them homes. I think had you mentioned that you are older and cannot handle larger pups in your original post, you would have had a better response. We see a lot of people who get rid of dogs for selfish reasons, so don't judge us because we are looking out for the pups best interests. Also, you did ask for opinions when you posted here. Good luck! I am sorry that you were scammed. Do you have any pictures of the pups? |
I understand size is a concern for you, being able to care for them. In that case, you would be better off looking for a Yorkie breeder who has young dogs who are fully grown. Breeders can make a good guestimate on adult size of their pups, but there is no guarantee. My boys are full brothers, different litters, and they grew larger than their littermates. My boys are above the Yorkie 7 pound standard. We knew Max would be a little larger, but Teddy was a bit of a surprise since he was barely 6 pounds at 8 months of age. He is now 9.5 pounds, although a skinny boy. :) Show breeders often hold back pups and then later release them to pet homes. |
Just wanted to share something related to this. HERRING CREATES NATION'S FIRST ATTORNEY GENERAL'S ANIMAL LAW UNIT (Virginia) January 22, 2015 - Herring Creates Nation's First Attorney General's Animal Law Unit Good luck! |

Secondly, if you are wanting a little dog and not wanting to take a chance on getting a 15-20 lb. full grown dog, maybe you really shouldn't get any dog at all. Some yorkies DO get to be 15 - 20 lbs. when they are full grown. Even if they chart to be 5 -6 lbs when they are small, it doesn't always happen. My yorkie was 2 lbs. when I got him and charted to be 6 lbs. He is now 11+ lbs. and STILL growing and gaining weight! I am in my 60s, have numerous health problems and autoimmune diseases and probably will not be able to pick him up and carry him around when he is finished growing but it doesn't matter to me because I love him. I will love him no matter how much he weighs. I really hope you do take the time to find out the truth of the breed of your puppies before you give them away. After all, you and the person buying them from you, deserve to know what they are getting. |

Oh my goodness. Most definitely mixed, but So cute! I'm not seeing the dachaund (because I cannot spell the correct name :D) but it could be the angle. OP if your vet is making a judgment call on the mix, and you don't know Doxie for sure, I would challenge his opinion, but that's just me. Looks more Chi than doxie to me. Curious what other members might think. |
I think they are adorable, but definitely not pure Yorkie ( not pure anything for that matter). I also think the best way to insure you will get exactly what you want, (need) in a Yorkie, would be to find a breeder that has a young, full grown Yorkie for sale. It may take a little time, but I am sure it will be worth it ! |
