| Hello everyone newbie here please help ! Im new to the forum as well to owning my first yorkie baby. My best friend and I both purchased micro teacup yorkies however both look completley diffrent , my puppy which only weighs about 1.5 lbs has thin straight hair which i believe is cotton coat . im really curious to know if she will grow out this type of hair when her adult hair comes in . either way i love my little princess dearly just trying to learn more about her . She already starting to change colors above her head the tan starting to come out around her ears especially. here a pic of miley . The first 2 pics are taken a few days after a bath and the last picture was taken right after i bathed her dryed her> what do you guys think ? someone mentioned that she may not be pure breed because of her hair and got me pretty nervous since i payed alot of money for her . |

| That's what a yorkie puppy looks like! She's very cute....puppy coats seem hard to tell....but winnie is silky now (She's just a year in May) and that's exactly what her coat looked like. I had to brush her at least once a day to keep it from matting! Now it's much easier to maintain.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | She is a cuties and looks purebred to me. Some will have thinner coats, some thicker...so it's hard to say if yours will change or not at this point. All 3 of mine have different coats. Either way though, she is adorbs! Btw, there is no such thing as a micro or a teacup...these are just terms used by certain types of breeders (usually unethical) who want to market their pups for more money by claiming there are "teacups". There is no such thing in yorkies. A yorkie under 7 lbs is considered "standard" only.

| Welcome! Miley is adorable and looks all Yorkie to me. Puppy coats can be tricky to groom. As Ann noted, it is too early to tell exactly how her coat will turn out. One of mine had his adult coat before age 1, and the other took almost 2 years.

| Your pup is beautiful. She looks just like my 2 did at that age. You said you were worried about her being pure. Did the breeder give you papers? (AKC registered)

| Congrats on your pup. There really is no such thing as a teacup it is a term bad breeders use to make money. I would definitely look into and sign her up for pet insurence. My pup and a cottony coat when she was a pup and it tangled bad but now she has a non tangling silky coat. Does she have AKC papers?

| Aww Thank you everyone , I was just so worried being that I paid so much for her and yes I am aware teacup or micro is just a term used for very small puppies to be sold for more but it just happens to be a term I use when I see a very small puppy . But I'm happy she seems purebred I'm really hoping her hair ends up being silky because I've always wanted a yorkie that has long flow hair bit either way I love her to pieces. Just wasn't aware of the different coats in yorkies because going to the puppy store I went there going to buy a Maltese but they didn't have any girls so I decided to just go with a yorkie . She 4 months so I'm just to give it some time |
