| Since puppy owning is new to us, we are in a snafu. Zeus is 9 months old and light of our lives. My 14 year old son has been home with him all summer. Unfortunately, he starts band camp in two weeks and school in three (we start school early down here)! I am wondering if we will go through separation anxiety again. If anybody has any experience, advice would be appreciated! |

| Sounds like Zeus and your son are very close. I think as long as Zeus has you and his daily routine, he should be okay and adjust. My boys are equally bonded to me and my father who lives with us. When dad was in the hospital, the doggies were a bit sad but were probably reacting more to my stress. They were very accommodating about changes in our schedule.

| Thank you. I sure hope so. My husband and I both work, and Zeus was doing fine. Then summer rolled around, and we've all 3 been dreading school starting back -- my son more than any of us -- LOL!! |

![]() Try to increase Zeus' activity/fun things in the evenings and hopefully the adjustment will go smoothly.

| And have your son leave behind a shirt he has worn that Zeus can lay with . That will have his scent on it😊

| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Hopefully, your little guy will do okay. You may want to do some trial runs...like have everyone leave for 5 mins and then come back. Leave for 15, and come back...keep increasing.

Excellent suggestions. Also, if Zeus is accustomed to TV or radio playing, try leaving one of those on to keep his environment somewhat the same. If you have a video camera, try videotaping Zeus to see what he does. A lot of dogs sleep most of the time that they are alone. When I had to leave my boys for the first time, a friend showed me how to use my Macbook camera to videotape. It was reassuring to see the dogs just relaxing.

| Thank you everyone for the suggestions, especially my son's shirt. We think he sleeps most of the time. He has his ramp to get on the couch and our bed, so he seems happy. Rest of the house is gated off. My son came to work with me today, and my husband is going to go home and check on Zeus a few times. He was doing fine before summer, but he got attached to our son (which would be easy to do). Zeus seems to think that he needs to be in a lap or snuggled next to someone to sleep! He is a loving little baby. We simply adore him -- none of us never knew how much we would love a furbaby! |
