| Is this a Yorkie trait? Penny uses her nose to get our attention. She is constantly bopping us on our legs with her nose. If she wants up, bop goes the nose. If she wants to play, bop. If she wants to try to move something, bop goes the nose. It's the cutest thing ever. |

| I think it is a dog trait. Max does not do that but if I am petting Sasha and I stop, she uses her nose to "flip" my hand back to petting her! I've had other dogs do that too that is why I don't think it is limited to yorkies.

| Yep Cody does that and 3 of my passed girls did also. I had Poodles and mini schnauzers that use to tap me with their paw, never with their nose, just the yorkies used their nose lol....aren't they just the cutest.

| No, Sunni smacks me with her paw, lol. But at training class that's one of the things they want her to do. Touch my hand with her nose..so when she does I say touch, lol. So, your baby already knows how to do it...start naming it. I have no idea why she's supposed to be learning how to "touch" but I'll find out next week..so far its hit or miss, lol..no pun intended! |

| Joan, the sticky note makes a little more sense out of it, lol. At least the sticky would give her a target. |

| this is true, but makes no sense to me lol, some ppl use use it in place of just "come" IDK but I keep it in his command routine lol. Still interested in what your trainer tells you. BTW, I have not used the sticky notes lol.

| Mine used to whine and cry, mostly while we were on the phone, when he wanted attention. Most Yorkies, from what I can tell, are very attention-seeking dogs.

| I think any intelligent animal will develop a way that gets your attention. I have had cats and dogs use nose, paw, face, shoving with front paws while standing on hind legs, specific barks, mews, or other sounds, etc., to get attention. If the desired result is achieved, both human and animal are 'trained' to great signals because both understand. For examples, a racoon used to come to the back glass door and put a paw palm on the door, high five style, to get food. We gave him food when he asked...seemed the polite thing to do for him. He would back away from us while we put food in a dish for him and politely wait for us to leave before he ate. He always left some 'for others' and he would 'thank' us before leaving. A feral cat used to do a similar thing, also 'thanking' us for food before leaving. He came to say 'goodbye' too before leaving permanently. All of our Yorkies have signals, and they teach, and learn from, each other. Brody will pat with a paw for some things, give a single short, 'different' sounding bark for other things, or, although he will pat the door to go out, he will also walk toward the puppy pad but pause and look back over his shoulder to see if I noticed his 'need' to go potty, too. All of their signals work because I respond to whatever signals are used. I wouldn't call them spoiled...much.
