| Addie and Raider update We survived our 350 mile trip to the Texas coast for a couple of weeks just fine. Took them to the vet last week for their second booster shots at 14 weeks. Took them in today for their rabies shots and will go back mid-May for their final puppy shots. Both puppies currently weigh 3 lbs. Raider has no known issues and is still the dominant one, although Addie is showing signs that she has almost had enough of Raider's rough manners. Addie has patellas that are a little loose. She has shown no symptoms and hopefully won't, but 3 vets have mentioned it. She loves to run and we hope that the patellas don't get any worse. We have had all the pee pads that we want to deal with, so we are starting crate training in earnest today. We have read all the training "books" so wish us luck. |

YT 1000 Club Member | Thank you for the updates! I hear ya about the pee pads; I can not wait til Veau's third set of shots and for the rain to stop so I can start taking her outside to relieve herself. Washing pee pads weekly is no fun. I hope Addie's patellas don't give her any problems so she can continue to keep up with Raider. |

| I need a nap! Addie and Raider spent their first night in their crates. I thought 2 hrs would be a place to start since they have not had to hold it till now. Took them outside at 9 and they weren't interested. Got up to take them out at 11 and Addie had pooed in her crate. Took them out and Raider pooed, Addie peed. Out again at 1 and they both peed. Woke up at 3 and both were sound asleep so set the alarm for 4. No action from either. They were so sleepy I decided to let them sleep until they woke up. Addie started to whine at 7 and I let her sleep with me until 7:30. Took them out and they both peed. Let them play a few minutes, fed them and went out about 20 minutes later. No action. They are both sleeping. Now I see why 70 yr olds don't have kids! |

YT 1000 Club Member | I fear this will be me in a month! I am planning to use pee pads for the puppies so that I don't have to get up in the night. I had a very scary incident happen to me about 12 year ago with a puppy that I had at the time and she had to go at 3am. If I had known about pee pads then she would have been bought some the next morning to use at night in the kitchen! I am still terrified to go outside late at night because of that. I also plan to use pee pads so that I can leave them for a few hours once in while and not worry about if they have to potty. I looked into washable ones, however what I use for crate liners are bed pads and I think they would think their crate liner is a pee pad, so I went with disposable pee pads. We will see how quickly that gets old I guess. I bought them online so I paid about 10 cents each for them by buying a bunch. I might still look into washable ones when they aren't going 50 times a day so it wouldn't be as bad to wash. Sounds like your trip was a success! I have a feeling she will tell him what is what very soon and he will probably always remember that! I know how females can be. I expect my daughter's female pup coming home next week will run the house soon enough and walk all over all 3 male dogs!

| We use the disposal pads. They really come in good when the weather is very bad. We Buy them at SAMs in the health and beauty isle. They are the same size as the hospital pads. They come 8 packs packaged together with I think 15 pads in each pack. They are very reasonable too at least we think so after seeing the pet brands much higher most places. They work very good with our 4 babies. I did use the washable pads with one of my puppies because when we would go off she would tear her disposable pad up. So rather than risking a possible serious problem we use them in her playpen. But the rest seem fine with disposable. But all of ours sleep through the night though it took some time it does happen.
