| Can News be Both Good and Bad? I convinced my mom to call a vet and have him put down my old dog, Socks. I don't want him to go, but there's nothing I can do for him, and I can't let him be in pain. He refuses to come inside, so he's outside until we can get a vet down here to put him down. He still has an appetite, but is obviously in pain. I very much appreciate the advice you all gave me! It helped me convince my mom.

| Yes, sometimes news can be good and bad. I'm very relieved that you were able to talk to your mom, and she is going to help your dog go out calmly and peacefully. You did the right thing by sticking up for your dear dog. I''m sorry you are facing this but its the strong thing to do, and you will be making his passing much more dignified and peaceful. Peace and sending prayers. |

YT 500 Club Member | I had a collie named "socks" when I was very little. We grew up together 18 years. My Dad had to put him down when I was away on a band trip. I'm 60 yrs old now but will never forget my best buddy. It's so very hard, but you know what's best. 😥 |

| It is with a heavy heart that I announce that he passed away at 2:15-2:30pm May 19th. I got to hold him while he took his last breath, and I was able to tell him all that I needed to. We didn't have to call a vet, he went on his own after a very long struggle with cancer and a handful of other problems. He'll be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

| The good news is that your mom and Socks have you to do what needs to be done with love and understanding. Bless you during this tough time. |

| So sorry for your loss, try to take comfort in knowing Socks is pain free now, running in green fields with all of our babies at Rainbow Bridge. You were with him to hold and comfort him and give him love in his last minutes. (((HUGS)))

| I am so sorry to hear of Socks' passing. I know it is hard (I went through it last summer) and it will take a long time to stop hurting so badly but you can take comfort in the fact that Socks is no longer in pain. I am happy to hear that you were with him and were holding him when he passed. I know that has to mean a lot to you. Even though your mom gave in and was going to allow the vet to come put Socks down, I think this way was better because it shows that it was Socks' time to go and you don't ever have to second guess putting him to sleep. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.
