| My puppies each only had three rounds of vaccines and their rabies vaccine. My vet stops at 4 months old when they give the rabies vaccine. I don't know if this is right or wrong. It is what my vet does and what I have had for my other dogs.

Third set of shots is usually between 14-16 weeks, my vet gives rabies between 6-8 months. OP, may I ask why your vet is giving 4 rounds? | |

YT 500 Club Member | That's a good question. He did have his 1st @ 6 weeks. 2 sets from breeder and now 2 sets from Vet. Haven't got the 4th yet. Will see Vet this week, so that's why I'm asking. Too much, I think. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Well, this is why ^^^. It's bc the 1st round of shots were given so early. They don't even "count" if given at that age - it's too young, and it's a waste to give them. Unfortunate, but it looks like you do need that 4th round.

YT 500 Club Member | Oh crap. Why did my " respectable" breeder give @ 6 weeks. This breeder has been producing AKC Yorkies for 25 years. Makes me mad. I do not believe in over vaccination. Looks like I'm stuck! 😡 |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | SOOooooo many breeders still do it, and it really ticks me off so much bc not only are these shots pointless, but their little systems shouldn't have to deal w/ these shots at that age. It's too bad . I don't know why some breeders don't keep up with the current knowledge - it's been like this for YEARS now.
