| I'm new Hi, my name is Kelly and my Yorkie's name is Charlie. He's my best friend and Emotional service dog. I was given him from a wonderful group called Dancing Woofs. They house dogs for people on vacation. Charlie is 8yrs old, I'm his mommy but he loves his daddy a lot. He just gets so happy when he comes home from work. I'm new to what Yorkie's are like and their needs so I will be looking over past post for answers to my questions. I look forward to talking with you all. I'll post more about us later. Right now I need to see what I can learn. |

| Welcome to YT....you can learn tons of information already posted and come here at any time as well, with any questions and concerns you may have! I like to recommend two books for new yorkie owners..."Yorkies For Dummies" is a fabulous book and goes great in your library for future reference a million times over! I also like "Yorkshire Terrier: A Smart Owner's Guide"....between these two books, you can find answers to almost everything you would need to know as a new Yorkie owner! Both are available on Amazon.com, and run around $12.00 - $14.00. Congratulations on your addition of Charlie....such a handsome young man!!! I am certain he is a priceless help to you! |

| Thank you Thank you for the warm welcome. I have had dogs in the past but never a yorkie. I've always wanted one. I didn't realize there was so much I needed to know. When I first got him it was at tax time, which was great because I had to do a lot. I got him a bed, bowls, food, and signed him up on a health plan. First thing he had to have 3 teeth pulled and surgery on another one. Since the gal that had him didn't know whether he had his shot I had to get all those. Then there was the license, getting him registered as a emotional service dog and of course toys. He's a real sweet heart but I think I've loved him too much. He was 13lbs. when I got him and now he's 17lbs. and I don't know how to get the weight off him or how much they should have in a day. I need to get him back on the all natural grain free food. I thought what I had for him was ok but guess not. I did find out he likes green beans. So instead of food treats I give him a about 3 green beans. He also has chewy's that he can chew and it digests when he gets a piece bit off. Now he is having problems with his back hips. I just wasn't prepared for all this. If I had to have waited a bit I would have read up on them before I got him but it was a sudden giving. She called me and came right over and gave him to me. He's like our little kid. I'm 57 with health issues but he's helping with those. I've lost 21lbs. since I got him. I just love the little guy. |

| Hi Kelly and Charlie, welcome to YT. Charlie is such a good looking furbaby. I have two yorkies, one is 7 months old and one is 5 months old. You are right; there is a lot to learn about them. I am sorry Charlie is having medical issues but you were right to get him a health plan. That is one of the first things I did also when I got my puppies. It's great that he is helping with your medical issues also and that you have lost so much weight since getting him. My two puppies love green beans also! That is what I give them when they are hungry or just looking for something to eat. Good luck with Charlie. I am sure he is wrapping you around his little paws
