| Excessively loud playing Hello again everyone!!! I have a question regarding playing. We've had Colby a few weeks now and he is doing wonderfully despite everything. He even get along well with the 2 year old cocker spaniel. Except when they play Sophie, the cocker spaniel, make the most evil sounds I have ever hear. It sounds like she about to eat him. The first couple of time I swooped down and separated them but they just go right back to it. I've sat back a watch, very attentive and closely, to them playing and Sophie is super sweet. Kinda mouthy and covers him in drool but the only times it seem aggressive in the slightest is when he bites her ears hard with his puppy teeth. She'll knock him over with her paw and walk away. He chases and the play resumes. When they are done they usually curl up and its time for naps. Should I be worried or is she just a loudmouth? She is very a very vocal dog in other aspects. Barks when she wants something. Barks back when she gets in trouble. (We're calling it the terrible 2's). But when they play is LOUD, mostly her but now he's starting probably learning from her. I can deal with the loudness I just don't want him to start making evil noises when he's playing with my little niece or something. Thanks All!! Here is a recent picture of Colby |

YT 1000 Club Member | You should hear my Yorkie when I am playing with a toy. It is the only time he growls at anything. If they are not hurting each other they are just having fun. My two setters used to wrestle and it would sound like a fight but they were playing. She sounds like she is teaching the baby to be gentle by knocking him down when he plays too rough. She would be a good mama dog for sure! LOL Just keep an eye on them. If they make too much noise when playing with a child you can tell them to be quiet. Teek knows he can growl when we play because sometimes I growl back at him! He loves it.

| Sounds like normal playing to me and that when Colby is innapropriate he is corrected by his big sister. It's all a learning process when they are in the puppy stage. I think you should just let them be.

| When Max and Sasha started playing together the sounds that came from my little 2 pound Sasha scared me! They each got a hold of a toy and would play tug of war and Sasha sounded like she was fighting a tiger. It didn't take long for me to realize it is all talk and no bite. To this day she still sounds vicious when they play but they never intentionally hurt each other. She has never made that sound when playing with me.

| lol..I'm glad you asked this!! Sunni is just about 6 mos. old and does the same thing!! When we play tug, its like another entity has taken over her little body, haha. She does it when she's playing with Harry too...but, I've come to see its just her "play" mode. Funny little story, my disabled son is not a huge fan of Sunni, because she's obssessed with him..loves to get his attention, but he's tired of it. She was doing the down stance thing..but moving her butt back and forth and doing the growling (play) thing..lol. He looked down at her and said..Sunni, that is NOT how a lady acts, hahaha. My son must have heard the workers at his day program saying that to some of the girls that go there, lol. |
