Taping was not easy for me, I taped and re-taped and scared to death they would end up funny looking. I ended up researching other ways and I saw where you could cut cardboard, like a ceral box, in the shape of their ears and use a little eye lash glue to secure them. I did this for a couple of weeks and it worked like a charm. He hated the tape, but didnt mind the other at all! Just thought I would throw that out there in case you did have to end up taping, I don't know if it is an "accepted" way, but it certainly worked for us with a lot less fuss!
How old was Presley when you taped his ears to the cardboard to get them to stand up? Neither of my yorkies' ears stand up. Duncan has floppy ears and I have given up on trying to get his to stand up. Elliot's ears stand halfway up, just the tips droop. I thought maybe I would try this if she isn't too old.

Presley was probably 13-14 weeks old when they started flopping, at first one at a time and after her was tired from playing hard he is an active little fellow. I called my breeder and she told me to tape them, 3 days taped 2 days untaped until they are standing. It worked okay, but then when his big molars in the back started cutting I would take them down and both would flop without standing at all. My breeder has been wonderful as we have become friends since I got Presley, I mentioned this to her and she told me to get aggressive with it, to keep them up and if they came down to put them right back up. I did this and it worked for me, Presley is just shy of 6 months. I have read where sometimes even after 6 months you may can get them up. I wish you luck, it's frustrating but using the cardboard and glue is oh so much easier, or at least it was for me

Ok ladies I trimmed the tips of her ears and now it's standing up but drooping at the tip so I'll try cardboard and tape to hold them up. Hopefully it will work. I'll love her either way but I just loves yorkies with erect ears

Confused

Good luck, I hope it helps! I am like you I will love them either way, but there is something about those ears standing at attention❤️ I am trying to figure out how to post pics from iPhone (on this post)of when I had Presley's ears with the cardboard but the struggle is real, so until I can figure it out I will put them on my profile under Presley's pictures

I've visited a few times but it's so hot is like your suffocating when you walk outside. I remember it was like 90 @6am when we were there. And he's talking about moving there ugh lol

I was raised in southeastern NC, and later moved to SC, so the heat and humidity is all I know, lol. I am an avid hater of cold weather, so the milder winters is a very big plus to me. My husband is from Virginia and it took him a couple of years to get used to our summers, it can be stiffling. With the pups I keep water with me ALL the time, even if we are just going to be gone 30 minutes. Also with their stroller I keep the frozen ice pack things that I slip under the bed part of the stroller which works wonders to keep them cool. AC will be your friend, your best friend in the August heat. In the summer I also keep their hair cut shorter and let them start growing out around September. You will get use to it, it will take time, but there is nothing like summer nights in the South to me, one of my favorite things .

Do you glue the cardboard to their ears? How does it come off then? Also, did your other dog try to take the cardboard off of Presley's ears?

I am going to try this on Elliot's ears. Her ears stand up but the tips flop over. She is 4 1/2 months old. I am hoping it will work.

Duncan is almost 7 months old so I think he is too old. His flop completely. They are so cute though when he is lying down and they stand up. I wish they would have stood up but he is cute even with his floppy ears.

The eyelash glue will eventually work its way loose or you can use a qtip and olive oil and it will come off that way. With the cardboard with brown side out it is not as noticeable so my other baby didn't mess with it. Once you put the glue on the cardboard let it sit a minute then put it on, that way it will not slide as bad and will be pretty much set when you get it on. I put a couple of pics of Presley on my profile with his ears like this, one of them he has a aqua hairbow and the other is a green hairbow so you know which ones to look at. It may work for your baby that is 7 months, he could still be teething, I know Presley has not lost all his teeth yet. If I can help please let me know, I know this was way easier than taping for us.

His mom lives in Lumberton and is dad is in Marietta and has a house in Charleston as well. His mom is about 40 minutes from myrtle beach and like 15 from south of the border. I.always have a good time, lots of fresh food, family and something to do dinner in the south is great but it's just so flipping hot lol. We live in buffalo now and he's suck of the snow (culture shock from virtually no snow to several feet ). This past winter we got about 4 feet just in a few days. It was so much snow a lady's for got caved in and her house was full of snow (not kidding Google it) so were just trying to find the perfect happy meds for a city northern girl and a country southern boy

Thanks hun, I figured Olive oil will work because that's how I get my lashes of. Thanks for the pics I trimmed her ears so today I'm going to prop them up. Sparkle is a doll but a rebel so we'll see how this works out

Ah okay, I know Lumberton it is a good place, I was raised in the Wilmington area. Be still my heart - CHARLESTON - I LOVE downtown Charleston, it is my favorite weekend get-away! There is great pet friendly resturants there.I will give you a hint inland areas in the south are extremely humid, beach areas are not quite as bad as you have the sea breeze etc. You need to strike a deal with the hubby, 'sure we will move there, as long as we are close to the beach '.
I heard about the winters up there, my heart went out to you, my husbands family is in Yorktown VA and they got hit really hard too, but not near what ya'll got.

Presley is a wild child but he did pretty good with the cardboard, lol.
