| Anxiouty scratching after spay? Day 3 after spay for little Izzy and I noticed yesterday she was scratching her neck (throat) area. Today she's scratching almost constantly and now there is a tiny welt there. Fearing some kind of reaction I calledthe vet and took her in. She thinks it's anxiouty , she's a flighty little thing anyway. Giving her a little Benedryl to calm her and aloe Vera for the skin irritation.no other reason for her to be doing that... Anyone else see this with yours?

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I did not see this w/ mine. With all the hormonal adjustments happening in her body right now, it's entirely possible that it could cause itching / skin heat / irritation. I was going to suggest Benadryl every 4-6 hrs (bc it has a very short half life), but I see you're already doing this...I'd continue to give it for a few days perhaps. Poor girl.

| Another day of excessive neck scratching, face rubbing, and head shaking. I had to tape a piece of clothe around her neck to keep her from digging ! It helped some , applying aloe Vera gel to calm the itch, and Benedryl at bedtime.....kept her outside in pen area ....helped distract her... Will be calling t he vet again if she isn't better tomorrow....it's been 5 days! Wonder if it's a drug allergy?!

I took the cloth off about an hour ago and brushed her again . He seems much better. Her incision is healing nice also....barely pink anymore.... She wanted to sleep with me last night for the first time , she was so uncomfortable. Had to give her Benedryl at midnight but she slept good afyer that....maybe we're over the hill....( I know I am!)
