Senior Yorkie Talker | The incredible growing yorkie I just bought a yorkie puppy she weighed 2.4pds at 8 weeks old when I took her to the vet at 12 weeks old she weighed a whooping 5pds. So she gained almost three pds in 4 weeks will she continue to gain weight at this rate. I thought yorkies gained in ounces not pounds. Wow your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated .

| It kind of makes me wonder if the person you bought her from was not feeding her properly? Winnie stayed at the same weight for a couple of months and then gained a whole pound in 2 weeks time....but she has stayed right at the same weight since. Do you give "x" amount of food all day or do you just fill the bowl as it empties? I think as a pup it's kind of hard to overfeed but I do wonder if she's taking too much food in and not counteracting with enough exercise. ...

Senior Yorkie Talker | I just fill the bowl and she eats on and off though out the day I don't fill it up after 8 at night. Your right about the poor food choice on the breeders part was I think one of the purina brands. I could not believe the rapid weight gain. Have never experienced this.

| Puppies really can not be fat and if the vet seemed ok with it then it's fine.

Senior Yorkie Talker | She was taken to the vet for check up three days before I brought her home, three weeks later when she was due for shots I took her to the vet. On the day the breeder took her in she weighed 2.4 pds on the day I took her she weighed 5pds.

| It really surprised me with Cookie. She was pretty big for her age when I got her at 14 weeks, and she continued growing like a weed for another month, really slowed down for a couple of months, got on a big growth spurt for another month or two, and then she pretty much stopped and has been the same weight for more than a year.
