| ![]() Sticks, leaves, stems, dried grass, berries. Everything sticks to her fur. She has a good friend Bilbo who comes over and they play outside when the weather is half way decent. I spend 1/2 hr getting everything out and then in the tub she goes. I get her out to get her dry and let the water out. When I come back there is a line of dirt going down the drain. ![]() I bought her shampoo with conditioner over the weekend. I hope it helps with everything that sticks to her fur. Her shih tzu friend gets nothing in his fur. It seems her fur just grabs everything, so even if I try to get out a big leaf, it sticks and crumbles and now I need to get out 10 little pieces. Does this happen to your pups? ![]()

| ![]() Does she have a long coat? We have a terrible time with that kind of thing in the fall when the leaves are on the ground. Gracie comes back in looking like a walking shrub. I started buying a spray on shampoo for her feet and legs to keep her clean and smelling nice between baths. A good conditioner does help with getting the stuff out of the fur. I also have a spray on conditioner that I use when combing. It keeps the coat silky and easy to comb out. |

| ![]() Yes! We have this problem. Teddy came home from the park once with thorny thistle stuck between his back legs, and Max had a thorny rose bush branch stuck to his undercarriage. ![]() For leaves, dried grass, and twigs, I just work them out with my fingers and then the comb. In the bath, I don't submerge them in water. They stand in the sink and I use the sprayer.

| ![]() I am constantly amazed at the size of the sticks, leaves and assorted vegetation I pull off of Yogi's undercarriage. I just laugh. If he was a real boy, his pockets would be full of all the wonders he finds outside. Since he doesn't have pockets, I guess sticking them to himself is the the Yorkie thing to do. ![]() ![]()

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Marcel's coat picks up absolutely EVERYthing, I swear! He's like walking velcro. Pfeiffer's coat is bad too, but not as bad as Marcel's.

| ![]() Yup...mine get a pat down before coming inside. It's not too bad, but the sticks, fuzzy leaves, stickery seeds, and such can hide in a long coat sometimes. I must admit to a little surprise that a Shih Tzu isn't a foliage collector, assuming long coat. My pseudo-pup Shih Tzu swept my yard plenty of times when staying at my house. She was an ex-show dog at 8 months old and definitely a gorgeous long coat.

| ![]() Oh, yes, short coats don't collect as much yard clippings. But we do get leaf drop-offs here, too, which I tend to pick up with paper towel...just in case it's 'not' a leaf 'this' time...LOL I bathe my kids in the shower. They don't stand in water at all.

| ![]() That is a good idea about the paper towel. And about the shower, I thought it might scare her. I'll have to try that next time. I thought by standing in an inch or two in water would help loosen the dirt on her paws. Next time, the shower.

Max picked up the thorny rose branch right before we crossed a street. He sat down in the middle of the street with a worried look on his face. We held up traffic while I removed the branch because I could not pick him up with it stuck to his belly. ![]() ![]() Quote:

| ![]() That's exactly what these kids do when they get a stick...they stop moving and/or sit down until the obstacle is cleared...LOL. They don't like being dirty...unless they are digging, or grinding their faces into a 'sniffy hole' in the dirt...then they don't give a whit. ![]() ![]() They get baths all three of them at the same time in the shower because they like the hand held rain head and I like the great rinse coverage, and to be able to set the temp and then just turn the water on and off as needed. You're right, though, they really do get our best, and very special treatment...but, IMHO, they more than deserve it.

| ![]() I agree, they deserve it. Also agree that they love being clean, but delight in the "sniffy hole" digging game. What is that all about?! Max and Teddy spin with their noses stuck into the ground like they are drilling. ![]() ![]() ![]()

| ![]() Hahaha...yes...exactly! Spin...grind...snuffle! I don't get it either. They gravitate to the dirt when there is enough dew to make morning mud, and for Brody, only after having to be carried outside, then lifting a front paw as if to say "ewe...yuck...it's touching me...help" when I put him down in damp grass, then it's a quick piddle and a zoom off to the 'sniffy hole' for a muzzle mud pack. After snatching him up again, he looks at me...face coated in dirt with leaves dangling like Christmas tree ornaments from beard and moustache, with this all innocent look on his face as if saying, "whut...?" Oh, and Brody loves pulling weeds, too...another serious dirty face maker... LOL Can't help loving them...they're so cute, sweet, smart, and funny!
