Update!!!: Poor blue born Mack Brown! 3 Attachment(s) Hello YT! Just wanted to update those of you who asked about Mr Mack.... He had his surgery today. He had a hernia repaired, and a "tumor" as the vet referred to it removed from his left hip area. He also had a back tooth extracted. (he has had a small wound on his left cheek below his eye since October 12th. After oral antibiotics. daily care with ointment, it hasn't healed) The vet was not at all sure if the tooth was abscessed causing the drainage in his cheek. She said his tooth was a tiny bit mobile, but he was also due for his dental (which he also had today) and had some tarter in that area that I find almost impossible to clean. I have worked in a dental office for 17 years and even I cant ever seem to get behind that tooth! lol! So, I'm wondering if the tiny bit of movement was just due to gum irritation due to the tarter. I'm kind of upset she extracted the tooth, but she was also at a loss as to why his little cheek hasn't healed, so I guess better safe than sorry. She is sending the "tumor" off for labs to make sure it isn't anything to worry about, but feels it isn't. He had a full blood work up and all came back normal so that's good news. So, he did great. He was so excited to see me when I came to pick him up. I bet I got a million kisses. Poor thing is just so sore though. He cant really sit because his little hip is sore and he cant lay right because his belly is so sore...and Im sure his little mouth is sore too! Poor little man! Just another milestone in Macks life that he has overcome. I was so worried about him today,,,,,I snuggled him so hard last night because I just never know how he will do and if he will be ok. So, I am so relieved to have him home and snuggled in my lap (on his back) lol!! I cannot believe the little pup who "wasn't supposed to survive" will be 4 years old in February!!! And he has gone through so much, but he is such a fighter! The vet told me today that she had never seen such an affectionate pup, and laughed saying she felt like she had a baby of her own as she dressed him back into his PJ's. She said it was so cute how he basically dressed himself putting his paws into the armholes himself! Thank you for your prayers and I will keep you posted on his recovery. Happy holidays everyone! Here is Mr Mack right this second....taking it easy!!! His little tummy is pretty swollen....thinking Im going to make him a little ice ack to help bring it down if he will tolerate it. |
I am sorry to hear Mr Mack had some issues, but so delighted to hear he is already FOUR! Wow how times flies! Can you remind me, I know blue born is very scary, but what are his issues? There was recently a litter of 9 born and the "breeder" is trying to sell them. Two of them are "all blue but a small white spot on their chest". Is this blue born? |
Poor baby boy I bet you are glad to be home snuggled up with your loving Mom. Sending prayers and best wishes to the sweetest little boy Mr. Mack. |
I'm so happy he made it through all that stuff today and is cuddling with Mimmy. He is such a cute little guy. Hang in there Mack! |
Poor baby, hope he heals well and quickly. Glad it's over. |
I'm glad to hear that Mack is doing well after the procedure. What a handsome boy. It's hard to believe he's almost four already! :) |

Oh my!!! Where was this?? Yes, blue is bad. Usually Blues do not survive and if they do many medical issues follow them. Blue borns are born grey... rather than black. Typically (Mack is an exception), they lose all their hair within the first 4 months assuming they live that long. Many have other issues as well...there's not too much knowledge as there isn't a whole bunch of them to relate to. I know my sweet boy did not lose all of his hair but yet has the most beautiful silky white hair, which is very unusual. But, his immune system is very low. We have to keep him away from everyone and everything. He isn't allowed to leave our home unless its a vet visit or just to car ride around town. He loves to get out, and is so very sociable, but his health is too fragile. We even have to limit who comes into our home with the fear of what they may track in so any and all company is asked to remove their shoes. Im shocked that someone is advertising blues and selling any pups in that litter....all carry the gene. I would love more info so that I may educate them!! |
Kendra, this is the thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...yone-else.html The man who owns the dam/sire/pups posted the for sale on the fake Yorkietalk facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2402081088/?fref=nf As far as I know, the "breeder" deleted the post selling the pups. Either he saw this thread, or (most likely) he already sold them all. :( From what I understand, both the dam and sire must be carriers to have true blue borns in the litter. And the others in the litter not true "blue" are carriers and should never be bred. Although the dam and sire should never have been bred in the first place. |
Poor Mack. I will keep him in my thoughts. He is lucky to have you! |

That is absolutely correct....The dam and sire both carry the gene (as do many...but put together they create the DD blue born up). They should ABSOUTELY not be bred again and NONE of the pups!!! This makes me so sad! |

Thank you so much for clarifying this condition. I think there was some confusion about the prognosis and diagnostic criteria re: this condition on another thread (http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...-alopecia.html) so this has been very helpful. I'm glad to learn your little Mack is doing well after his procedure. Hugs and kisses to him x |
Healing prayers to your sweet little guy. He is just precious. |

I'm happy to hear and see that Mack is doing well after all that he has been through. Praying for good test results and his speedy recovery. |
Thanks!! I think hes more sore today than he was yesterday which is to be expected I guess. He just isnt his spunky little self. I hate when they hurt and they dont understand why! |
1 Attachment(s) Mack and Piper could be bookends! That's Piper's favorite position exactly; from the tilt of their little noggins, the ear 'flop', the way they hold their little paws...I mean, even the expression on his face is a mirror of Piper. If I ever have access to a camera, I'll post Piper in like pose...it's rather uncanny and very fun. What a cute and brave little man that mighty Mack is...Give him a gentle neck massage from Piper and me... |

Poor Mack. I hope he is feeling better today. |
1 Attachment(s) Well, the swelling is getting worse and the bruising is setting in. His hip is looking really good, but his poor little tummy looks terrible! Im sure its fine.. I just feel so bad for him. We have switched from Ice to heat after the first 24 hours. He is still his spunky little self, just has this look in his eyes asking why???..lol. The perfect Puss in Boots look, sadly looking up at me with his big green eyes saying "whats wrong..why wont you fix it?" makes me so sad! |
