| Puppy on vacation? Hi everyone! Sorry I have so many questions, just a lot comes up with a new yorkie puppy! My family is going to south of France (hot and sunny beach vacation) for 4 days. I can only go if I bring my boy. Happy not to go if that's best, but just wondering... What do you think of bringing a 3 month old yorkie puppy on vacation? We will have had him for 4 weeks at that point. It'd be a 2 hr flight the day before (then staying with family that night)...and then a 5 hour flight the next day. I took him on a 2 hr flight when I first got him, and he was great. His pee pad training is coming along, he's learning where his bathroom is. He's started sleeping in bed with us and getting through the night. We also feed him Pure Instinct Raw, so not sure how I'd take that on the plane...I'm also googling requirements for taking a pup to France, but does anyone have experience with that too? Do you think the vacation would be more of a joy for us, or more of a stress? Any opinions are great! Thanks Last edited by doglover4; 12-10-2014 at 08:37 AM. |

| I've flown to France and then took the ferry to England a few times with my last yorkie, as that was the only way to have her with me during times of seasonal temperature extremes, and not have to travel in cargo. I don't think you'll be able to fly with her as a pet as she wont have had her rabies shot and all her puppy shots by that age. And they are very strict on the pet passport about rabies. She will also need to microchipped with the international chip.

| Unless he has all of his shots he should not be traveling and at 3 months they don't.

| I personally wouldn't do it because he is a baby and that's over 7 hours of flying. It's too stressful for a young puppy.

| I would think this would be a wonderful opportunity for you to go on vacation and allow your puppy time for socialization at the kennel/family members home whilst you're away! Enjoy your vacation in southern France w/no worries! |

| For me it would be stressful, I watch my pup like a hawk, if I can't see him I look for him. I watch to make sure on walks he doesn't snap something up and eat it. I take my pup with me when ever I can, when visiting someone it is never really a visit, I am always watching my baby. Call me over protective but this is just me lol.
