| Human Years to Dog Years I was searching for human years to animal years conversion and found that 1 human years is equal to 3.64 dog years using the Human Animal Years Conversion Calculator. Is it correct???? How is this calculated???? |

| Welcome to YT.... years back it was stated a dogs life was 7 years to the equivalent of one human year, so a dog at 2 years old was 14 years old in human years. Some where in the mid 90's I read due to advance veterinarian techknowledgey dogs are living longer, so they reduced the years of a dogs life to 5 years for one human year.Making a 2 year old dog 10 years old in human years Now in 2014 veterinarian techknowledgey has advanced in leaps and bounds, it is amazing what treatments are available for our canine buddies, cataract surgery, acupuncture, etc, I have not checked if they again reduced the years of a dogs life compared to a human's. I go by the 5 years to one human year. Maybe one of our members has more information on this. Good question Julie

| Really it would be different depending on the size of the dog because larger breed dogs age faster and small breed dogs age slower.

| Am I the only one who likes to use regular human years, lol. Chloe is 1 so I like to think she's 1 and still a baby.. I don't like thinking she's 5.

| lol, Cody is 3 y/o, to me a puppy, a baby, I don't think of him as a 15 y/o lol, he is a 3 y/o little baby. Chloe is a 1 y/o lil baby, not a 5 y/o lol. I think using human years would come in to play when a dog reaches 10 y/o and over, when they start to slow dog. In my experience all my past dogs at age of 10 y/o started having health issues and more vet visits. I myself do not use human years.

| Funny, bf and I were just talking about this! I had heard after a certain amount of years the 7 to 1 changes to 1 to 1. Mine are now almost 8 and 10, so they are actually older than we are now! But we still treat them like babies.
