| Help! Bella's getting fixed! Hi all my little Bella will be getting "fixed" soon and tomorow she has an appointment to get blood drawn...so she has to fast starting at 8pm tonight and no water after midnight....she is going in at 8:30am, they are drawing the blood, she comes home for 2 hrs and eats, and then goes back to get more blood drawn. Is this normal for the vet to do? When I had Louie "fixed" he did not have to go through any of this. Does anyone know if this is the norm for females and not for the males???? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much.

| My Bella had bloodwork done and was not allowed to eat prior to surgery as well. I dont think its anything out of the ordinary for them to do this. I assume a lot more work goes into spaying a female due to the intrusive procedure.

| Hi, I'm normally a lurker here but my little girl (Zoey) is getting spayed in about 6 weeks and the vet is going to be doing the same thing with her. They want to do blood work and tests on her before the surgery. She told me they ask everyone to have the pre-tests done but really only demand it in the toy breeds and Dogs over 7. Just FYI. I'm sure all will go well for Bella. Kelly |
