I'm sorry, but I'm calling BS on what the breeder told Deb. Things are just not adding up. I'm sure she is a great person and breeder and her dogs are great and healthy, but I don't believe she is keeping them until 12 weeks. She may have told DEB that, but I just don't buy it. Unless the OP was wrong about A) the pup's age B) When she was picking up her pup, and C) When her mom was picking up the pup. Seems odd to be mistaken about all of these things. Your pup is now 8 weeks and you said you will be picking up next week being 9 weeks old. Your mom's pup is 10 weeks and was supposed to get it last week being 9 weeks old. Now, after being contacted by Deb, it's always been 12 weeks. Seems a little fishy to me. I just hate when people are not completely honest, but hopefully I am wrong and there were just a whole bunch of misunderstandings on the OP's part. Good luck with everything!

I'm pretty sure the OP was hoping to get her pup sooner as was her mom, I'm pretty sure the breeder was getting slightly annoyed because the OP and her mom didn't want to wait too much longer because they weren't aware of the benefits and the reasons the Breeder was waiting "so long" but now that OP has a better understanding of why its to the dogs benefit and why the breeder kept putting them off....


Her initial posts were all over the map about this pup which just showed to me she was a true newbie, all she was concerned about was getting a pup and probably didn't even know what to ask....I think OP is excited and I really hope OP sticks around to learn all the things she needs to be a good Yorkie mom....

Yes, i suppose this could be it. I know i wish i would have found this site and got all the right info before i bought my pup from a not-so-reputable breeder.

Your preaching to the choir here!! lol I got Mini from a Pet Shop :( I found YT while I was researching all of her medical problems.........it was like getting punched in the stomach a 1000 times.........every post I read was like OMG OMG OMG.....I did everything wrong....

Thank you everybody! I have a lot to learn and was just very eager to get my puppy. I havent owned a yorkie since I was a little girl and I'm very excited to finally get another one. Lynzy, thank you so much for being understanding!! I understand everybody's concern about the breeder but I assure you she's great! My zoe had surgery yesterday due to a hernia, I forgot what the name of it was. So she will have stitches the next 10 days. I just want to be the best yorkie owner I can be! This little girl is already very much spoiled. :)

On the Litters page, when she posted the Sire and Dam's names, it said "Sillers etc.," for the dam/sire's formal name, like for example: "Parents: (DAM) SILLERS SHOW ME AMAZING MAJIC (Sire) SILLERS LIL'BITA KABOOM'S BANDIT" and the breeder was located in MO, Deb's located in MO, so I kind of just put two and two together, haha

Yes I knew that as well, that's why I reached out to the Breeders...once I realized who it was...not to mention after awhile its kind of easy to spot a real Newbie who really is just so wrapped up in getting a pup verses asking all the questions that we all know NOW that we found YT. Often times this goes the other way and they go through with it anyway....and end up back her with a not so well pup...as far as I'm concerned this OP is very lucky she ended up with a good breeders because giving her trusting and somewhat naivety she could have very easily been lured by a not so good breeder, especially in Missouri, ya know?....like I once was when I went to the pet shop........rotten wench took full on advantage of me, hook, line and sinker....blechhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I just wish I lived in MO so I could get a good, healthy pup for only 500.00. Instead I paid $600 for a mixed breed pup that may or may not have health issues in the future! We live and we learn.

Could you please do the math for Mini and remind me of how cheap her love is? lol


2500 for purchase, 27,000 for medical and about 10,000 for treats, clothes, toys, and 50 for grooming every 6 weeks? I need that reminder! lol

$50 for grooming every 6 weeks, so that would be about $433 a year, so if Mini is 10 years, I think it would be.....$4330 for grooming (her entire lifetime so far)?

2500+27,000+10,000+4330 = $43,830 spent so far.

$43,830 / 10 = $4383 per year.

$4383/12 = $365.25 per month

$365.25/4 = $91.3 a week

$91.3/7 = $13 a day

$13 a day isn't so bad for Lil' Miss Mini's love! :)

Zoe,s mom i agree just because you dont pay an arm and leg doest mean its a bad breeder. I paid 300 for my boy. This lady has the pups dna checked. She keeps records everything. She gets more for her pups a lot determines what color and size they are. My little guy was brought back by a senior who couldnt take care of him. Hes perfect healthy little guy. Even gives a health check up and all shots. I do realize there are some who dont charge much like the back yard breeder i got with my pap. No shots no papers. I did not know what i know now. I was greaving the loss of my doxie and bought her. But she is a pure bred . But they breed the mom and dad i think everytime she comes around. Hopefully my girl will not have issues so far so good.

Then you say: "No shots no papers", but later state that "But she is a pure bred"....with no absolute proof that she is a purebred, how can you be sure?

Also: you said "she keeps records and everything" and then "Even gives a health check up an all shots", you later contradict yourself by saying "No shots no papers".

You also say that "She gets more for her pups a lot determines what color and size they are". This seems to me that she charges more for different colors, and she charges more for the smaller puppies, which just doesn't seem right.

And the statement that worries me the most is ""But they breed the mom and dad I think every time she comes around" This doesn't seem like just a BYB, this sounds like a puppy mill--and puppy mill puppies are poor representations of the breed and are more likely to have mixes in them.

I'm also confused as to why you think that someone who breeds their females every heat cycle, someone who freely advertises "rare" and "special" pups, someone who doesn't even give their pups shots, someone who is in it for the money, someone who "even gives a health checkup" although they feel it's "unnecessary", is a good breeder.

$300 is NOT a good price from a BYB/highly potential puppy mill. You can potentially pay THOUSANDS of dollars out-of-pocket to pay for your pup's possible health issues and surgeries in the future.
